Howdy, Stranger!

It looks like you're new here. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons!

Give me beta, or give me death.

Look all you game developers.

I need a beta, AoC, WAR, Tabula Rasa, Fallen Earth, Gods n Heroes, SOMETHING.

Im jobless with nothing to do but game. I have a vast mmo playing and testing history and would be a perfect game tester.

ALL I DO IS SIT ON MY BUTT AND PLAY VIDEO GAMES.

Im hoping for some betas so i can actually test gameplay mechanics and help devs find bugs and such

But alas, getting into betas has become a popularity contest.

Why do so many mmos not live up to what they could be?

No good beta testers, just folks who think they get to play a game for free for a few months so they can get an edge on non testers.

MAKES ME SICK.

I'd be happy to put your out of your misery and give you death if that's really your life.

Plenty Games have Open Betas... if you have not gotten into a beta then you have not tried hard enough...

The OP does have a great point that if games are coming incomplete then one reason could the lack of quality beta-testing, and from my experience of beta testing I was really surprised by the amount of people merely there for free game play. Beta testing is pretty tedious and boring if you do it properly. There is something very satisfying about seeing Devs working on bugs and coding errors that you spot and report.

yeah dedicating time to a company in pre beta stages, giving feedback on information, IP and planned mechanics

    Sounds like a popularity contest.............

Companies reward most beta spots to dedicated community members as they should do.

You seem to want beta spots because "apparently" you are a good tester.  If it was a choice between you and someone who had been openly following the progress of a game for a number of years then I know who I would chose.

    First choose a game.

Particularly one that you really like, and is early in the beta,

... or better yet, not started.

Be active on their forums(If they don't have them.. the game isn't worthwhile), contact the devs and make sure you don't annoy them, or make them think you are an idiot, otherwise you are free to say anything.

Make sure your beta application is filled out in a way that it makes you look like you would be a great tester. But be honest.

    Enter all contests.

Research everything about the game and answer everyone's questions on their forums. <- Best way, especially because it is fun and almost like you are already in the beta, except ye have yet to taste the fruit of the developers labour. Plus many people interested in the game knows you and when the game/beta starts ye R populAr.
