There are two changes made with the UI.  The first are the icons - they suck.  They are ugly blots of color that people do not want so they actually had to make the original icons available to use in the custom UI.

The second is the actual UI.  They removed the tabs.  Instead you have two seperate windows.  Once is chat and one is combat.  The windows are seperate, but dockable.  You can also create as many different windows as you want and set them up for other purposes.

They also added an emote selector.  You can click it and pick the face and then your character does what is on that face.  So no need to /rude when you can pick the face reprenting it instead.

With DAOC's crack dev team no telling what will go live.Look how fast they yanked the new sounds and the awfull icons.Seems like doing even minimal customer research  is not  a concept they value .

I don't know if I agree with you on that, Iv heard alot of moaning and bitching about DAoCs UI before this patch went live. Most voices meant that the UI looked old and didn't live up to the modern standards in other mmos. Ofcourse they had to do something!

There IS a testserver over in US and if you guys don't cba about going there testing the new stuff you can only blame yourself.

So stop QQing and learn how to use the new UI.

The new UI looks streamlined.  You can open up some of the files that are downloaded but not yet implemented.  If they are, then things are going to look more LotRo than it is now.

The new UI will stop people from window dragging so that is a plus.

I think the biggest issue is that the new UI look is not something that most current players want.  But the biggest issue is with the icons.  As long as someone wants to keep supporting a custom UI, it looks like things will be fine.
