Ugg – crafting in CoV now.

GreenChaosGreenChaos Member Posts: 2,268
One of the things I liked about CoX, it was the simple MMO.  Move fast and fight and that's it.  No equipment (except for enhancements – but these used to be very simple), No crafting. No auctions.

Well I just signed up again and what do I see?  Crafting and auctions!!!  Slotting skills used to be simple, now we have IOs and IO sets.  UG – sucks to be me.

Am I the only one that hates crafting and auctions?  Sound like a lot of work to me.  I thought I was playing a game not at a job.  Next thing you know we'll have housing and they'll make us clean!  More chores to do.  Ahhhgggg.

Nope your not the only one who hates crafting and auctions, you and the other 0.00000001% of the exisiting player base have become a very vocal hate group on the CoX forums, both in the US and the EU.

And i'll offer you the same advice as i offer them, if you don't like the game ...... don't play it.

Simple how that works ain't it?

All the enemies in PvE are the same difficulty as before, and no that's not going to change anytime soon.
So, you don't have to craft or use the auction house.
Just ignore the salvage and recipes and sell them at normal NPC stores.

It adds more options and depth to a game that was lacking in them.
And compared to other MMOs, CoX crafting is still pretty simple.

Honestly I do not see it as much of a problem. It is completely optional. Personally I think the craft system is very simple and fits right in with the rest of the MMO. You can still slot up your character with good enhancements and do a fine job at playing. However, take the 10 minutes of your time to invent a couple of IO's is worth it. While it is too expensive to build a character with IOs completely it honestly does help. For example, I have a Warshade slotted with 1 Knockback DO. I notice I have a knockback recipe and its invention takes mere seconds. I slot it, and now my knockback will easily throw back any purple boss and more. I sorta understand how you feel. At first I absolutely loathed the new crafting system. However I sucked it up and gave it a good try. I was very pleased with the end results.

The auction house is actually awesome simply as a money making tool.

My level 11 Mastermind has 1.6 million infamy (money)  because I played the market a little,  which is extremly easy to do.   So even if you don't intend to craft you can still sell the crafting materials you loot for infamy

i dunno I was attracted to CoX cause i thought at end game I could fight others on a balanced playing field plus do some fun PVE. well, i found the PVE kinda repititive but fun sometimes. but i was mistaken about the PVP part. very imbalanced + pvpers gotta raid for those Hami-Os. at least u get one hami at end of raid. but i just cant bear the thought of raiding, puke

You can still play without using the Inventions or auction house. You can either a.) ignore them and continue to play like you use to or b.) drop everything in the auctionhouse and sell em for 1 inf. Someone is going to overpay and you get profit.

your arguement is so persuasive, so filled with knowledge and insight. You back up your argument very articulately, with suggestions of improvements and raising examples to glorify your position....oh wait, you didn't

Just don't craft... it's the same game it was prior to the crafting.  You don't have to look up builds, find the uber slotting.  Just make a char, choose your powers, click the scanner, go to a door, kill things, leave, click your scanner again, repeat with breaks to talk to a detective and a trainer..

fairly simple, and not too complicated for ya
