For this game.

I desided to give this game a try via the 14day trial.  Well, i know it's an older game but I did not relize how spoiled I had become. Getting Quests is easy enough but finishing them is a pain.  Forget the fact that once you complete the task and return for the reward, you know have to spend a half an hour or more looking for the persion that gave you the quest. There is no indicator saying come here so i can reward you, so instead you go from NPC to NPC tring to match the name to the quest.

Then there are the quests that can not be solved.  I was given 2 quests to go to the town of Ardee and give items to the sentinal Moya and a difrent quest to go to the tavern in Ardee and talk to an old army buddy. The only problem is that the town of Ardee was destroyed so there are no sentinals much less a tavern and forget tring to talk to the rebuilders to try and find out where they may have went. Oh, BTW this is the second quest you get, the fist tells you to go outside and give a package to the blacksmith Talow in town, only problem is that he's not in town he is at a caravan outside the castle so you will not find him unless you are exploring and just happen to run across him.  Then there is the quests that say part 1 is find a place, you find it but because you do not dance a jig while holding a bottle of ale in your left hand and a wild flower (red) in the right hand you will not get credit for finding the place  (oh and no where does it say that you have to do the afore mentioned to complete the quest, only by asking a few older players do you find out what you are missing)  I did find out that maybe my problem was that unlike most games, the person I needed to talk to will not stay in one place so i must find out when and where he/she will be and be on-line at the time they deside to make an apperance... WTH?

Ok,, well I don,t really care about lvling (I have been playing WOW since gold and do not have an avatar above 42) what I am realy intrested in is the crafting. At first glance the crafting in the game my be enough to balance the rest of the game play for me. I managed to finely craft some book shelf brackets and a hinge after traveling to the castle and using the forge there, the forges in the towns ,,,, well i tried every possabe location including  climbing on top of one and still got there error "You need a forge for this" (I would point to the forge and even kick it but the game would not acknoledge that the forge i was looking at was anthing other than an optical delusion on my part.

And WTH do I buy woolen thread?  Why do none of the merchants sell it? I even switched from the weapon crafters guild to the talors guild but still have not found any merchant in hyber that sells it.  I even tried to salavage it from the 100 bolts of cloth I had salvaged and why can I not repair anything?  No mater how many times and how many sewing kits i buy i can not repair a torn shirt. ARggggg..

So doe's anyone know of a guide because this game has promise but at the rate I'm going I am fixing to del this from my hard drive if I can not even make a simple pupet much less a new shirt.

It's been years since i played the game (played from release until shortly after TOA was released) and sadly I still remember those names from the quests you listed! =p

It sounds to me like they made some environment changes to the game (When I played Ardee wasn't destroyed) but didn't bother to update the quests.  Your best bet for the information you're looking for would be the official game forums I would imagine.

There are some wiki's but I can't find them atm.  I found this one but not sure how good it is:

    http://en.daocpedia.eu/index.php/Main_Page

for quests I would go here:

    camelot.allakhazam.com/quests.html

Also, if you are wanting the best XP, go into TNN.  From there find the crack in the mountain that takes you to catacombs.  You can dl the catacombs expansion for free as part of the trial.  The quests there are the best quests in the game.

For help I would use /journal  It will give you the NPC name you need to go back to.  If you go into Catacombs you will find this easiest because for the most part all of the quest givers at a given level are all in the same place.

Ardee is destroyed because of the campagins going on right now.  There is a camp to the southwest so search for the NPC there.  If he is not there, then clear the quest and go on.

You can also go up to named guards (this works best in SI and is through the portal at mag mell) and so /task when clicking on them.  This will get you a simple kill task for XP.  Outside of sometimes bad directions and hard to find mobs, this gives great XP.

If you atleast remember in what town you got the quest you can ask a guard where the NPC is.

If you target a guard and type /where "name" he will point you in the direction NPC is located.

Good old daoc :) I think you should join a guild asap. Quests are not that bad in daoc but your right they don't hold your hand like in wow. The thing with Ardee is a dragon attacked and kinda destroyed it. That is a game event that happened recently. Before that the NPCs were always in the same place. I think they should have adjusted those quests to compensate for the event taking place but they didn't. The game is good don't delete it yet. Find a guild that is willing to help you. Without a decent guild the game can be a bit dry or at least for me it was. What server are you playing on? If your on the classic cluster you should not have too much trouble finding people willing to help you or advise you. When crafting you can try using the broadcast chat in the cities and ask for help. Crafters usually watch the broadcast chat while they stand there crafting. You should be able to craft the item if you are standing near the tool it needs and you have everything required to make the item.

Okay, first off on quests, look at the name to return to then target a realm guard and type "/where Name".  They will point you in the direction of the person.  Second, in Ardee, the people there have moved to a camp of tents to the west of town, everyone you need is there and if you are standing in Ardee, look west, turn your clip plane to Far and you will see it.

Lastly, although some of the links contained within are old, start HERE for your crafting needs.  For the record, the merchant in TNN is most definately in the crafter area.  In fact, there are normally about 3-4 ppl standing right next to the 4 craft related merchants.

Oh, and as a sidenote, unless you are rich for some reason, or have a source of in game cash, don't even worry about crafting.  Even the cheapest mastery (tailoring) costs about 3 plat to get to 1000 skill.  The rest are about 8-20 plat to master.  Crafted gear, although good, is generally not sellable by someone who doesn't also have a house with a merchant, which will cost you another 2-3 plat to setup.

I found that if you don't have the Use Atlantis Trees option checked you will not easily see the camp of tents from Ardee.  The old Shrouded Isles and Classic trees have low branches and thick leaves that cover much of  what can be seen with the Trials of Atlantis-style trees.
