Dark Elf class speculation

in Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning

Seeing as the greenskins have Orcs with two choices and Goblins with two choices (instead of gender), I was thinking maybe Dark Elves will work the same way with their gender. Male magic users are generally a huge no-no in Dark Elven culture, and there are the Witch Elves to consider. If they include a magic using class, it'll be tough to explain how it can exist in Dark Elven society.



So that's my crazy theory. Females with get the Sorceress and Witch Elf (damage dealer...maybe healer? Never know with those blood chalices they're fond of), Males will get the tank and damage dealer or healer (if damage dealer...maybe assassins?)



Just my crazy theory.

    They aren't going to have a standard assassin, which includes stealth. However it would make sense that they have a type of DPS class, very rogueish, but no stealth.



    And Mythic is definitly trying to follow Warhammer Lore, so I'm sure that Dark Elf males won't be using magic.

    Well, theres female Warrior-Priests, so i would think they are keeping class/race combos open.

    In the most recent PodCast, Paul Barnett more or less told us that Corsair would be one of the Dark Elf Classes.

    I've never heard that before, but I'm not familiar with Warhammer. Is that consistent with Warhammer lore?

    The ruler of the Dark Elves, Malekith, knows of a prophecy that a male magic using dark elf will overthrow him. So, he makes it illegal for male magic users except himself. The only 'legal' mages are sorceresses, who are all ritually married to Malekith and supposedly loyal to him and the coven they belong to.

    If the Dark Elf share the same faction as Chaos.

     

    Chaos = Tzenth.

     

    I don't see any good reasons why these rogues Dark Elfs that join Tzenth wouldn't be wizards.  In fact, whoever will overthrow the big nasty is prolly a Male Dark Elf following Tzenth...

     

    And alliances with Chaos are not possible.  If you are allied with Chaos, you are Chaos.  As plain and simple as that.  There are no room for compromises.

     

    So these Dark Elves are Chaos, and as followers of Tzenth, they can be sorcerers.

    I am merely guessing, from what I saw.  But it wouldn't make sense to have Dark Elvs allied with Chaos that aren't Chaos...Chaos is swarming the world, not doing compromise.  If you are allied and thereby protected from "Chao-ificatio", you are already Chaos...and Tzenth = casting a lot...

    It's actually spelled Tzeentch. And that isn't who the Dark Elves follow.



    Mythic hasn't come out and said there will be no Male Dark Elf Sorcerers. I do remember reading something a few months back that hinted there will in fact be male casters in the Dark Elf profession lineup. I wish I could find that link.

    about the speculation about the female Witch Elf and male Assasin. I think Mythic will stick the lore about this one. But class are within the Melee DPS class. So I think they will make this choice truly uniquie.

    Melee DPS

    Male = Assasin

    Female = Witch Elf

    In that way, but Assasin and Witch Elf are within the lore choice. However there will be no stealth for the assasin. Mythic have already state that a long time ago......

    The reason I had suggested Witch Elves as a possible healer class is, well, I can't really think of anything in Dark Elven lore that would fill such a role. Like the warrior priest is not purely a healer, Witch Elves are fight happy, but they do have links to regenerative properties in their rituals and their cauldrons.



    My speculation about the male/female mix was more along the greenskins. As we know, Orcs can be one of two classes, goblins can be one of two classes, and instead of gender you choose orc or goblin. In the same way, perhaps they will limit the males to two professions, and the females to two. Eh, who knows, it's just some conjecture :P

    Witch Elf is almost a lock for a class since Mythic used it as a model for their cinematic trailer. Corsair is almost a lock for another class since Paul Barnett more or less purposely leaked it to us in a recent PodCast. I would then feel safe to guess that the next two classes would be Executioner/Blackguard and Sorceress or perhaps Beastmaster.

    I know you arent suggesting a healer only class but I thought I'd throw this out for the people that havent seen it yet.

    Damage per second class? what is that?
