Questions about LoTRO Asthetics

I was a short time early beta player, and was immediately turned off by some admittedly superficial aspects of the game.  I'm wondering in they have been fixed since then:

1.  The animations were horrible and choppy.

2.  No voice acting on NPCs at all (not looking for EQ2 style speeches here, but a word or two to add some atmosphere goes a long way)

3.  The water looked bad, almost like it wasn't there.

There were a bunch of other minor things, but they all added up to making the game (during beta) simply not look and feel all that good.

So are there any current players who were in the beta who can tell me how much these issues were improved at release?

Well, I never played so points 1-2 I can't comment on but I don't know if it was because it was a beta or you computer, but from what I see the water looks great. If I had a picture readily available I would show you.

The release client didn't have the mega hi-res textures yet, on my computer the release client looked a lot better then beta.

    1. animations are much smoother than games like WoW and EQII

    2. NPCS were give voiceovers sometime in beta 2

This your first beta? Or you just wasting a beta slot to get an early glimpse of the game? Other than Vanguard, what you see in early beta is not what releases. Optimizations and all the extra goodies come towards the end of the development cycle.

Animations are not better than in Wow. Wow has some of the best hand animations on the market, while EQ2 has pretty good motion captured stuff, and some handmade stuff that isn't to great. Animations in Lotro are ok. They are pretty smooth, and don't seem to have any technical troubles. But there is stuff that looks ugly.

Regarding the water; It looks awesome at times, like the shots Jackdog posted shows, but if you look at in from certain angles it looks awfully flat and almost like it was a 2d reflective plane. But all in all great water.

Npc's have voices when you click them.

They are not improved at all! No need to play Lotro!  we are too many and we don't need new players.

    Thank you!

I suppose that is one of those subjective things. I think the animation in LoTRO are far superior, WoWs was always a bit amateurish in my opinion. To-may-to,Tah-mah-to

Any one of us could have a Masters in computer graphics from Duke University for all you know.

There is after all a reason that we have institutions offering education to become a animator
