CCP has announced that the EVE Online expansion, Revelations II, will be launched on June 19th. Along with this announcement they have released details of some of Revelations II's features.
REYKJAVIK, ICELAND - June 14, 2007 - CCP, the world's largest independent game developer, today announced that their upcoming free expansion, EVE Online®: Revelations II, will be released on the massive Tranquility super-computer cluster on Tuesday, June 19th.
Revelations II is the seventh free expansion for EVE Online and includes important improvements and additions. New players will appreciate a completely revamped New Player Experience where rookie pilots begin their adventures in EVE within a protected area to learn the essentials of gameplay within a protected environment at their own pace. For the more seasoned pilots and alliances, the broader Sovereignty scope, improved Corporation and Alliance management and introduction of Heat will be most important.
The most notable features of Revelations II include:
- Heat - Adding a new dimension to space combat in EVE. The ability to boost performance of ship modules can mean the difference between life and death, but not entirely without risk.
- Broader Sovereignty Scope - Sovereignty concept broadened with intermediate goals and four different tiers: Territory, Protectorate, Province and Constellation Capital.
- Revamped New Player Experience - Optimization and streamlining of the tutorial vastly improves how new players are introduced to EVE Online, making it more fun and easier to start their alter ego existence in space.
- Need for Speed - Significant CPU and dogma optimizations that set the groundwork for full Vista support slated to be introduced in a future expansion.
- Structure Warfare Enhancements - A number of new features expand the opportunity for strategic operations.
- Improved Corporation and Alliance Management - The addition of vital tools and roles necessary to command and conquer.
- Agent Mission Improvements - The introduction of Level 5 Agents add the most challenging Player-versus-Environment encounters yet.
- Expanding the Frontiers of Exploration - Rare NPC spawns and other opportunities abound for greater solo exploration as well as increasing the chances of discovering in-space encounters and hidden deadspace pockets.
- Anti-Fleet Warfare - Discover new tactics for dispersing large concentrations of ships.
With so many exciting additions and changes to the game, there's never been a better time to explore the challenging and expansive universe. A free, 14-day, no obligation trial is available at www.eve-online.com. Stake your claim and set a course for fame and fortune in EVE Online today.

Finally.
I want faction warfare though. -.-
Lets see when that gets done..
Heat will make things even more complicated =(
Hmmmm...19th eh?
Would've thought they'd give more warning than 4-5 days. Oh well, I think it's actually better as now we won't have to be so eager for too long .
And the heat thing will be very confusing, maybe it'll be like mods will work best at a certain temperature but get too the extremes and they break. Well, we'll see.
You dont have to overclock, but if you want to, it is really very simple. Me, I cant see myself overclocking, as I cant really see the use. But hardcore PvPers might think different.
It better to burn out than to fade away!
If you couldn't One - Two or Three volley something before, switching the guns to overheated mode will definatly up your artillery damage and cause some havoc.
Seems interesting. Going to definatly change the way I approach a fight in the first couple of second of engagment, for sure.
The anti-fleet tactics are more interesting to me. I suspect the big Alliances are keeping their eye balls peeled as to see what this will mean (Hmm random jump or warp dispersions of ships? That would be fun!).

I was thinking of coming back to Eve and this looks worth a months sub.
Methinks I might reactivate right now to get the hang of the controls again. It has been about a year since my last cruise around the galaxy and I wasnt very experienced by then having only played for 6 weeks in total.
Return of the noob
I used to visit this site a lot however in recent years it has become the home of negative forum posts, illogical opinions and tantrums so I visit less often.
Played or Beta'd: UO / DAOC / Horizons / EQ2 / DDO / EVE / Archlord / PirateKingsOnline / Tabula Rasa / LOTRO / AOC / Champions / Darkfall / Mortal Online / DCUO / Rift / STO / SWTOR / TSW
Looking at your sig, i can see you have 900k SP. With the recent changes in character creation, that's worth... 0 minutes played. All new chars start with that, now.
I had 30 Million SPs before i cancelled last month. That's two and a half years playing.
Reasons?
Recent DEV cheating, GM cheating, events rigging, and a friend banned unfairly for "hacking allegations".
He is an accountant. He can barely turn on his PC and double-click the "word" and "excel" icons.
His petition was closed with a very rude "this has taken too long". This is P2P, respect is demanded.
Oh, and let me tell you: "too long" because GMs sometimes take 3 weeks to answer a petition.
After last year's Fanfest, where everyone saw publicly on EveTV the CCP CEO completely drunk, wearing a kilt (scottish insult), babbling an utterly failed attempt at english language, CCP only became one thing for me: "pathetic".
I have kids, but they are -flexes proudly- more mature than all of CCP.
One month earlier and i could have offered you a 30Mil SP account. It meant nothing for me.

The truth
How truthful is unproveable, but this much is certain, CCP was the victim of a malicious well planned out attack with the one objective of destroying credibility. The perpetrator was banned but I only hope it becomes a criminal matter.
Anti-Fleet Warfare - Discover new tactics for dispersing large concentrations of ships.
This is the introduction of nukes. Cloaked ships will be able to launch nuclear warheads that will damage a great number of ships... they said (about 4 months ago) that 3 or 4 of these ships can seriously injure a fleet that is too close to each other making it primed for a fleet jump and take them out.
