not a good sign

Im a hardcore wow fan and im pretty upset with this new update i mean i understand it needs to be done but it does mean the wow player base is dying slowly . But i think there will always be a steady number of subs through all of these new games

We've previously announced our intent to merge the Cataclysm and Frenzy battlegroups in order to lower their arena and battleground queue times, and increase the amount of players available for the cross-realm PvP features. Due to the extensive maintenance this merge will require, we're currently anticipating a maximum of 24 hours of downtime for the realms in these battlegroups, which are listed below. We're currently scheduling this downtime to begin on June 19 at 3:00 AM PDT, and conclude at approximately 3:00 AM PDT on June 20.

Azuremyst

Area 52

Auchindoun

Blade's Edge

Blood Furnace

Coilfang

Exodar

Shattered Halls

Terokkar

The Scryers

The Underbog

Velen

Zangarmarsh

Yeah its the same for the european realms as well, its because they release all these realms people roll on them don't get first so they go back to their mains. So we are left with dead realms, and high queues for bgs ; /

hmm...so, make up your mind people, is WoW dying or not?

It's about time, but sadly, too little, too late.  I already cancelled.  It wasn't the only issue, but one of them, imbalanced battlegroup with literally 5+ hour wait times.

    Welcome to the 'club'

I canceled 2 times, the 2nd one back at the end of Oct 2006 and haven't looked back since.

But I would think this was a positive move to solve battle ground queue issues, it hardly foretells the end of WOW or anything like that.

I too recently cancelled, believe it or not for the second time! Blizzard just isn't aiming to please a player like myself.

This is a merging of Battlegroups, meaning more realms will share Arenas and Battlegrounds like players have requested for some time. It doesn't mean any realms have low or declining population (though I won't claim such realms don't exist), as that would lead to realm mergers, not Battlegroup mergers. ;)

I'm just hoping that they looked at the groups before they did that.  A lot of times the queue is high because one side has a lot of people that want to play in the BGs and the other doesn't.   This kind of merge will only work if they look at both sides and make sure that they are evening out the amount of PvP players.

hmm...apparently no one cares about a club or party for WoW cancellees...

well the only reason they would be doing this would be a shrinking of player base because of the que times dont try to join blizzard side on this you know in the end what it means and im a WOW fan

Heh, I don't wanna be mean but you shouldn't assume so easily. Both of those battle groups are  newer ones that came after the original battle groups were implemented. Combined they equal just over half of what an original battle group contains for servers.

meh, so should we call off the big party?

Oh yea WOW s totally dead, just log in and see the 40 servers that show "Full" or "High"

    *dripping sarcasm*

Now, I can't wait to play anything but WOW, theres just nothing really good out there now. Yes I've tried it all and probably got to the max level.

Now keep in mind Blizz opened a SHATLOAD of servers mid January.. of COURSE they knew those wouldn't be full. Dead servers just make Blizz more money because a) Rerollers like fresh starts and b) People transfer off the dead servers and give Blizz their 25 bucks.

Dead servers help not hinder them, lol.

And though you may deny it or be the exception, a lot of people who quit WOW go back... many times. Cuz until October there is nothing out there that holds a candle to WOW.
