This game. It's had a rough time getting the MMORPG market but they're still trying. According to Turbine they are going on a new advertising campaign for AC2 and its well known knowledge now that Microsoft dropped out of its development. Turbine also began hiring more artists and I am assuming more devs. I am personally considering going back to it despite the low server pops and I wish more people from here would too. What did/do you think of Asherons Call 2?

I dont understand that at all. I played both AC1 and AC2 and I couldnt stand AC1. I only played it for about 3 weeks and I was sick and tired of it. Every character I made was "wrong" and whenever I got a monarch they told me I should remake it. There was no communication in Allegances, the only way you could chat with the rest of the Allegance was if the Monarch gave you permission. The graphics stink and the Magic system is way too complicated for its own good. All those different regeants were kinda annoying. I dont mind complicated MMORPG's (I love Anarchy Online ) but Asherons Call 1 was ridiculous.
Whatever tho, I just dont see why people love AC1 so much...
AC2 is, pretty. The graphics engine is and always has been the most detailed out there, with textures so fine a top end system could take 6X magnification Screenshots without losing detail.
That being said it labors under the remains of its absolutly abymal launch, server instability, chat broken and down more then up, lack of content, unbalanced classes, you name the thing you can do wrong at launch and it can be applied to AC2, but, that was a year ago things have changed.
Class rebalancing put people mostly on an even level, a couple classes still need tweaked but most are fun and usefull.
Chat has been fixed and is almost fuly functional (only cross server chat still breaks and most games don't even HAVE cross server chat so its generally not missed)
Servers are more stable, they still go down every now and then but not more then once or twice a month.
Content is being released once a month and after almost 2 years there is finally a decent amount to do, of course some of the existing content is out dated and not generally worth it, the rewards have been surpassed by newer quest rewards.
There are still problems, CS is horrible if you have a problem they'll more often then not send you to the official forum where no one from the company bothers to answer. (bitter? me? hell yeah)
The Vanguard team (players who test the monthly content) leaks info like a sieve so the top guilds always get through the newest content first, is perhaps their biggest still existing problem.

Asheron's Call = the best mmoRPG IMO. The game was not just based on leveling like Final Fantasy XI. The quests were so much fun people didnt care if they got to lvl 126. PvP was also fun. When I was lvl 40 archer i could kill lvl 80's easy (sometimes). But then again OG Archers were mad strong.

AC2 had good graphics and an excellent combat system for an MMORPG everthingelse was half haerted for me and and some point they where only brainless timesinks added to stop people blasting thru content.
I think quite some MMORPG could pinch abit of the combat system even COH but the game in general leaves me cold.
There one big leasson AC2 learned me If I hear casual player I must run as fast I can. These simplistic statless copy cloned skill trees bore the hell out of me. I love too fine tune give character too an char.
Btw AC1 is still my Nr. 1 MMORPG

AC2. Played beta. Hated the ell outta it. Now AC1. Loved that game. Played beta, and 2 1/2 years after release. Mainly because it wasnt a huge MMRPG, the community on darktide was as such even though people were asses at times, it felt like a community, and everyone knew who everyone is, be it they hated them or liked them.
Loved that game!

Sounds like the game was too complicated for you. In which case AC2 would be your game, much simpler and straight forward.
