So I can control 4 mobs at the same time! (edited)

That sounds interesting for 1 person controling a 4 person squad.  Gives a whole new meaning to solo by soloing with a whole party.  I wonder how it will play out.

The total amount of minions that can be used at once is brought back to 4. But other than that, you can control em all indeed. PE's aiming for slightly smaller groups of players and still create that big amount of people feel.

And on the plus side: if the game isn't a success, 100 players will look like 400, so they can say the servers are populated.

LOL. Yeah the game will always look busy because of the minions. But i think this game will do well.

On the flipside of that though, would that cause server problems? ... what if the game is a success and say 3000 were on... giving .. a feel of 15000.

Only Level 50 characters get 4 minions and PE said that this was also one of the first issues they looked at and it should not be a problem.

It does indeed look very interesting... though, I'm more of a fan of the "classic" model.

Though it may cause its own host of issues, certainly brings the massive multiplayer aspect to the genre. Sword of the New World, Gods and Heroes... just doesn't interest me as much to have a bunch of self sufficient groups running around like that... figure it'll get boring quick unless they have LOTS of dungeons/raids that require 5 players (25 total units)

Sword of the New World teams you can just afk to level all the way up to 50.  Gods and Heroes squads won't be as efficient and it will be necessary from the sound of it to complete quests in order to level up efficiently.  Also, there are instanced zones starting at level 10 that require a group in order to even have a chance to complete them.

But... minions are weaker and overall diffrent than the main char, right? So, they will look more like some kind of mercs or servants than a real company of heroes .

I don't see how controlling 5 characters is more boring than controlling 1.  More options = more fun IMO.
