It's looking promising?

I've just been checking out media and FAQ's of this game and I'm pretty impressed with what I've heard and seen, I took real notice when I read 'player cities' an aspect of MMO's that I've missed since my time in SWG. But as with all MMORPG's it's still in development so anything could happen. But I've been impressed with some of the things I've read and the game is looking great. I'm soon going to be building a brand new Gaming PC so hopefully should be able to play it when it's release. I know that Beta aplicants are being taken now, sadly can't add myself as my comp is rubbish at the moment and if the Beta aplication is still open when I built my comp I will add myself.

But I'm glad to see Player Cities again, it's a small feature but something that made SWG so much fun. Also the crafting sounds interest and so does the combat. Is this game schedules for 2008? or is it expected to be out in 2007.

Oh and also, if player cities are in the game does that mean the game will have Player housing? another feature I love.

Well, to my knowledge player cities will definitely be in the pc release (which is on 30th October this year if everything goes well) since it's a fundamental part of the battlekeep system (TM?), whereas the xbox version should be out sometime 2008. Player housing won't be implemented with initial release, but might come later.
  • Sounds good, look forward to giving it a try!

Aye, me too, haven't played a decent mmorpg for over a year. I used to play FC's AO 2002 or so but the combat model wasn't my thing, otherwise though the game was pretty good and broad. But with AoC having a far superior system in that regard I'm optimistic for release.
  • I haven't played a good MMORPG since SWG (left after the changes), seen quite a few but been disapointed by most. WoW got boring way to quickly and I might give Everquest 2 another go when my systems built so I can run it well, but other then that theres been no other MMO that I've really enjoyed that much.

    2 Side notes....

    1) The Player Cities will not have individual player housing like SWG did. That's probably the biggest difference, although here you'll have the ability to build walls, hire NPC guards, and periodically fight against the NPC city that spawns in direct response to your city that has been built.

    2) Player Cities have NOTHING to do with Battlekeeps and Towers. They are built in 2 different areas. Any guild with a set amount of people will be able to build a player city, and engage in the siege style combat against NPC's. Battlekeeps and Towers will be taken by guilds that are able, and will have to be held thru the siege combat system against other players.

That being said, only thing they have in common is the siege combat system, but one is designed for PvE, and other PvP.

We do plan to do player housing later on, but we really want to do it right using our old time experiences in UO as an example.
