Rapid Reality has announced the release of Phylon, their sci-fi themed action MMO.

RAPID REALITY'S NEW SCI-FI GAME, PHYLON, RELEASED

Following the successful Beta testing phase, Rapid Reality Studios
announces the commercial release of their first MMO, Phylon. The game is now
available for purchase on the newly redesigned website, http://phylon-online.com.

Tracy Spaight, Rapid Reality's COO stated, "We are excited to release
Phylon as it represents a lot of work from our team and from gamers who provided
tremendous feedback during the beta testing phase. We hope that players
will enjoy the game, in particular, the battle arenas." He also stated,
"Through focused surveys and general feedback in our forums, we will
continue to tap into the creativity of the gaming community to help shape
the game and its future expansions."

Phylon combines the fast-paced action of a traditional shooter with the
persistence and depth of an MMO. Join players from around the world as
part of the Bloblic Imperium, the Amphibian resistance, or the Terran colonists
in their struggle for control of the planet Anura. Crush your enemies in
instanced battle arenas, including Deathmatch and Domination. Advance in
skill and unlock access to hundreds of unique items, including jet packs,
energy shields, power-ups, and weapons.

player leader boards, in-game and game art showcases, forums and much
more.

Rapid Reality is wasting money promoting Phylon. No one is interested. Everyone knows all about how the Chronicle failed after preorder money was collected  by Rapid Reality.

The word is out. MMORPG.com can take the advertising revenue and keep pumping out Phylon press releases but there aren't any suckers here to be had.

There's a video there.  It looks interesting, but i'll have to read more about it to see what it offers.

I  seriously wanted to try this game out, but because it needs to patch every single time you start it I wasn't able to. I'm talking 30 minutes of patching though.. Sure I guess I could've waited, but who does that? :) No, I'm not on 56k, I'm using Comcast cable.

The gameplay itself was ok and it was fun to play a while.

But there where serious problems that droppet the fun after a while to 0.

Between each "Stage" or place in the game where huge loading times.

Like said above 30 min and more.

The Charackter cration is so small that it is a riddle how your toon will look like.

The quest menu and the hole quest system at all where a mass too.

Which quest do i have now? How many quests can i have? only 1?

The music was strange and didnt fit into the game at all, its more like a chill out vid.

    The menue itself a mess.

What do i use atm? What is what ? What im doing here^^

At all i never expected the game out so early but it is here and if its the same like in beta >>> Dont spend money in !!!A free trial maybe helps here.

It really seems like whoever is managing the release isn't talking to the Devs.  The game has made major improvements since it started beta (new UI, new Nexus hubworld, more arenas, much better questing) but there are still way too many game crippling bugs and incomplete features for them to release.

I want this game to do OK, despite RR's past.  That may cause me to put on some rose colored spectacles when talking about this game, but I still can see when they are making a big mistake like this.  Unfortunately, this just seems to fit right in with RR's track record, so any hopes that the company might have.

Despite my desire to see more people playing this game, i can't with good conscience tell people to pay for this game in its current state.  Hopefully the devs will at least do their best to fix said bugs and complete said features in time to get *some* people playing this game.  But it's probably already to late for that, and I guess it's a shame to see what could have been a unique game meet this fate :/

I would not spend one dollar on anything those lying developers puts out. Rapid Reality is a really really small company acting like it is a big player. Shame on them. And check that "boss" Tracys past... ;)

Do they really expect from people like me to pay for a game without even trying a Beta, demo or Trial? They crazy...

    The game is garbage.

Give me the $15 and I'll kick you in the nuts, then atleast you'll have a story to tell.

Rapid Reality is the biggest scammer on the net.  Their games are horrible crap and they have a very shady past.

Giving them credit card information is like gi ving away your money.

If you are dumb enough to pay for this game, you truely have serious issues in life.

You rank them worse then NPCube?  wow... that's pretty bad.

Hey, remember when RR made a big deal about the size of their studio?  You should ask about their employment status as of late. :-)  Kinda hard to make content and updates with that many people on staff.

I have yet to play this game but I wanted to say something about RR. Companies should never promise things they cannot keep... you know how that is gone (dont make me remind you if you haven't already thought of some, ie. Mourning, DnL, etc.). In RRs case, they promised what? like 3-5 games in 1 monthly fee of $10 right? I am just saying that promising big things like that and not fully knowing the first game will be out make cause problems.

Anyways, I hope this game does good because I definitely want to see their other ideas that could have been MMOs actually come out if they do make them.

I'd like to say something positive about this game, but in all fairness I can't.

Tried it during beta time and didn't like any aspect of it. Unless they vastly improved it (judging by other posts in this thread they didn't) I'd keep your cash in your pockets or spend it on another game.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this an updated version of "Endless Ages"?

I played the original beta of that game, what, five years ago? It was a very nice game for those days and I played it a lot, although I didn't carry on when it went live. I tried the beta of Phylon and it looked very much the same - didn't have time to get far into it, but I liked what i saw, although since I don't much like PvP there was never much chance of my playing it seriously.

$14.95 as a one-off fee is such a tiny amount, however, that I might get it just to log in once in a blue moon for nostalgia's sake. I really did have a lot of fun in Endless Ages.

At least DnL has been forced into being free, so for now Farlan/NPcube have been demoted to second place on the shit meter.

You are correct, it is a rebuilt EA. The one they swore they weren't working on when they were supposedly working on The Chronicle, the one people pre-ordered only to find out they'd been hoodwinked.

The game was in open beta till recently. I'm going to give this one a chance. It's a low investment $15 dollars + 5 per month? That's just a round of Guinness at Fat Gamer's local bar!

It's simply because no one cares...and with good reason.

Its all in line with RR's policy of having so much SUPER IMBA revolutionary gameplay and graphics... so they cannot show anything ever.

its already failure is down to bad publicity... did we know much about this game until a month or so before release! bad timing, bad history, something tells me from that interview on the podcast i belive.. they didnt exactly sound like they took it to seriously... especially from people who screwed people over last time
