my personal opinion would be Second Life. The game has a wide variety of different role play in it. Like I said in another post last night you can find a ton of crap there such as Mafia Roleplay, Ancient Roleplay, Slayer Roleplay(humans vs Vampires), and even Master & Slave roleplay. There is a bunch of stuff there that many people enjoy getting into.

Ok j/k.. but honestly every MMO has RP groups.. you'll find a lot of RP'ers in LOTRO.

Lord of the Rings Online.  I meet new people to RP with every time I play.  You just type /rp on and people know you're a role player... and there are a lot who just freely rp in a casual manner.  Esp. on Landroval, the unofficial rp server for LotRO

Why do I write, create, fantasize, dream and daydream about other worlds? Because I hate what humanity does with this one.

BOYCOTTING EA / ORIGIN going forward.

Shadowbane had a decent amount of roleplay. Not sure if that is the case anymore as I have not played in over a year.

For a change of pace from the fantasy-style games, try City of heroes or EVE. Both have an active role-playing community. CoH has tons of potential because its a comic-book universe (go to the Virtue Server). I know many people say bad things about EVE, but if you can get past the learning curve it's a great game. Most of the people I met role-play on that game. The political storyline is great Imho.

Yeah, I gotta say LoTR or EQ/EQ2 is probably your best bet for finding  true rp's out there.  Although most MMO's have a dedicated rp server.

I always thought EVE had good RP environ, simply because it's kind of easy to get into. Any game usually has at least one server that is the  "unofficial RP" server and usually has a good community. You should always check the forums, especially server forums, to find out where the good RP is happening. I always look for player-events and thinks like that. A little research goes a long way.

I think roleplay can usually found on the small non-mainstream mmorpgs. Even if the big sellers like WOW offer 'RP Servers' , there is rarely any RPing. But i still hope one day we will see a big title with a focus on gameplay and Roleplaying.
