Not totally sure this is true but I believe that the 360 doesn't have any capable dx10 GPU's in its insides. Whether it has can be made to do something similar but not true dx10 is what I think. I think that its GPU's can do better than the best dx9 card but lack the shader model 4 and some other architecture and bits and pieces that dx10 cards can produce. But I can't say for certain sorry.
It doesn't say much on the wiki site http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_360 either. So I would say it can't do FULL ON dx10 glory. As its hardware and not software I doubt there could be an update to achieve dx10 either.
The Xbox 360 has a Direct X 9 GPU. But unlike the PS3 it is able to run/emulate certain things from Direct X 10. What it can do, and what not, I do not know. But hardware support for stuff like PS 4.0 is clearly not there.
According to my nephew, a new Xbox360 is coming out/is out called the Elite, and that has expanded GPU capabilities that make it more on par with the PS3, and thus capable of doing some of the DX10 stuff.
That is not correct. The Xbox 360 Elite is out in the US, coming later this year in the rest of the world. The only thing it add is black color, hdmi port and a bigger hd. That is all, no changes to cpu, gpu and so on.
Also the Xbox 360 is the only console on the market today that is able to run small parts of Direct X 10. Mostly due to Microsoft making both The PS3 can't do anything else than Direct X 9 stuff.
Xbox 360 hardware does not support dx10, the components are far to old. I'm sure it will run bits of it (as any old hardware will), but it won't have the hardware support so it will all have to be software based, meaning it ends up running very slow.
So yea AoC for xbox is going to have to be dx9, until they release a fully dx10 capable one. TBH though, the extra stuff that dx10 gives probably won't be noticed that much at the resolution consoles run at (apart from some better lighting effects maybe), especially if your using a TV which will be further away and not as sharp as a monitor.

anyhow xbox will be more powerful than most pc's playing this game anyhow, few will have a decent dx10 pc's
