Does SOE remind you guys a bit of that girl(/boy)friend...
That really pretty(/handome, okay that's enough, probably very few girls will read this anyways) girlfriend that you care about, that cheats on you. Every time she comes back with something new to say, you give her ooonnneee last chance. You get back with her, then BOOM! She screws it up again. She doesn't act very sorry and says there are plenty of boys out there, and that she guesses you just weren't the one for her. When you first got together with her, before you committed yourself, the girl seemed awesome! Then once she had you she just changes.

I agree that SWG got raped. It sucked. But I agree it was NOT SOE's fault. They might not have helped, but they are not solely responsible.
If this is about Vanguard... there are places for that too, and Vanguard was not originally an SOE project, and if anything, being in SOE's care is HELPING that game.

SOE reminds me of a first love. We were young. It was wonderful. EverQuest changed my life. We spent 8 and a half years together. And it was a wonderful time. Eventually, we started growing apart... but it was 8 and a half YEARS... It still, to this day, EverQuest stands head and shoulders above most other MMORPGs (I put RPG on there because it IS in fact an RPG, unlike alot of the other games out there) that are much newer, have better graphics, and a larger subscription base...
SOE... is still quite awesome. Vanguard is improving. And EQ2... well it does not totally suck like it did when it first came out...
SWG... has been a pile of steaming feces... but I understand it is getting better too.
Why do so many people hate SOE ? I have liked them since day 1 with EQ...
If you dont like them theres alternatives...

As much as i hate SOE's customer service at times, and as much as I wish they would step outside the MMo box, this genre would still be in complete infancy if not for SOE.
They have shown they are willing to throw money at any reasonably develeoped MMo idea.

If you and an ex were not happy the last 10 times you tried it, I have to think her wrong for you.
If you have felt betrayed and crushed by SOE this many times, maybe you should get away from them.
I mean... your ex GF can make another totally happy, complete, and satisfied. But she was wrong for you.
Maybe you should let SOE go... and seek another?

lmao jeez perhaps you're right! But I think of my realtionship with SOE a liiiitttle different than I would think of a girlfriend.
In any case... I started this topic as more of a test than anything. I don't really hate SOE with all my guts. In fact, when I played SWG it was awesome. EQ was good too. I was a little bit disappointed in the release state of Vanguard, but I think they're doing an okay job now with most of those titles, considering their past. I got the material I need. mods feel free to delete this if you want </3 :P

SOE has had a bad rep forever because of the way they do business. SOE is Sony and Sony is the most proprietary company in gameing and right up there in general electronics as well. Wait until they get their crossover titles out and kiss goodbye the days where new content was expected for free and usher in the new age of "every single little thing will cost you a pretty penny cause console wubbers are willing to pay." I dislike Sony for so many reasons that I can't even get started here or I won't get anything at all done today.

The OP should ignore the fanboys, it is definitely an appropriate topic. Anyone that defends SOE these days needs to have their head examined, they need a reality check.
As long as Smedley is in charge of SOE, it will be the sesspool it is now. They have one decent game at the moment in EQ2 and it took them 2 years to get it to be that way.
If they ever remove Smedley and change their business practices some of us might give them a chance. At the present time there is a large pool of MMO's players who will not give any SOE product the time of day. Now that is just bad business.

And for everyone information, it is SoE, don't put a capital letter on online, they will do dumb stuff if you give too much credit to the online component. Sure, it means a big deal to them, from a techie point of view. From a player point of view, it is entertainment with other players, see, entertainment is central. Other players is important, but it adds on, not remove the main focus on entertainment.
