Because isn't that what it's really all about?  We are talking about entertainment here and whichever keeps you entertained the longest is what you want in a game.

I played WoW the longest, mostly because my friends were playing it.

I played WoW way too much, nearly everyday since its release, that is until about a year ago when I got bored.

Although on and off with it because of friends and gettin really bored at times

I played DAoC for about 3 1/2 years. It wasn't my first MMO, but it was probably the most fun I've had in an MMO. This was back before all the instances and all that, though.

I played UO on and off for about a year and loved the freedom of the game.

I played EQ for bout 1 1/2 years. I had a lot of fun in it, mainly because it was my first fully 3D MMO. I quit it for DAoC.

I played WoW from release until about a month and a half ago. I only really got into because a lot of my friends rolled characters with me, but I had a lot of fun with it. The content in it just lost all of it's luster for me. BC raiding got boring fast for me, seeing as how I found half of the new "raiding instances" to be a joke.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------
WoW: Lamere, 70 Paladin on Jaedenar (retired)

DAoC: Cadore Ironmace, 50 Cleric (retired)

SWG: Dolthin Erid, Master CH/Master Pistoleer (NGE'd)

Waiting for: Warhammer Online/Age of Conan

I clocked in over 6 years worth of veteran rewards in EQ1  between account creation on Sept. 12, 1999 and today, reflecting actual time subscribed, which is an accurate representation of my time playing, since I unsubscribe from any game if I am not playing. And I am seriously thinking about resubscribing when my PC comes out of storage. It's sad but true.

If I only play a game for 6 months or a year and then never go back, I kinda feel like it was a disappointment.

Lets see... I know the longest mmorpg I've played was UO. I started playing it in the 5th grade. I quit playing 8th grade. I think I stayed so long because of the ability to do whatever. It's not like omg! Now I'm behind all my friends in levels or they've completed all the quests and I haven't. It's like ah I've had a nice break for a couple days lets get back on and get back to work. it's a very laid back game were you can do whatever. it's not like a crappy game like WoW were all there is to do is level so you fall behind everyone if you take 3 days off. Thats probably why i played UO longer than any other mmorpg.

Is there a way to edit my poll to add the other games that have been mentioned?  I've tried editing my post, but don't see any way to edit the poll.  Is that possible?  I'd like to give everyone the chance to vote.

Daoc then eve follows with a few months less playtime. Both also are the only ones i still "miss" when i'm searching to play a new mmorpg.

To the OP a shame you didn't include eve online ....or include an "other" option. Most people in here probably played WoW so my guess is WoW will win this for sure.If you include the other option too then you have a more precise view.

  • I played AC for about 2 years and WOW a year or so, off and on. Right now I am subscribed to COH, but I don't play that much. I am pretty burned out and I have an old computer, so I will probably cancel.

Asheron's Call for about 5 years. since then ive sort of cycled through MMOs. SWG, FFXI, WOW, EQ2.....none have lasted all that long. I guess there is no love like your first love ;)

WoW, for 18 mnths worth of sub time...(not consecutively but...) i'm starting to regret it, too...meh...community hit the dirt ...so i moved to EQ and have gotten lots of help from random people when they realize that if i solo this monster or that monster...that i'm probably going to die...so, it's great so far (not quite fond of the death penalty yet but, i can deal)

Actually I meant to include a bunch of other games, but I accidentally hit "enter" after the above games and it posted it.  I can't find anyway to edit the poll now.  Maybe I should just make a new one?

I played Star Wars Galaxies for a long time (Well a long time for me). About a year and a half I think it was. It was mainly my guild and the community that kept me there. In hind sight, it was never an amazing game, there was little to no structure in the gameplay. That made people very creative though.

I used to play FPS games a lot. I played Half-life mods for 2 or 3 years (not Counter-Strike!

I played Guild wars for about 3 months. I played WoW for about 3 months. I see a pattern here!

I'm now on to City of Villains, I've been playing a month so far. And unlike WoW, the fun starts instantly. I only found WoW truely fun after level 60.

Let's see if I can break the 3 month mark! The community on CoX seems A LOT better than on Guild wars or WoW, so it's a good sign.

MMOs played (In order of how much I've liked them): Star Wars Galaxies, World of Warcraft, Vanguard, City of Villains / Heroes, Guild Wars, Warhammer Online, Age of Conan, Tabula Rasa, Anarchy Online, Ryzom, Final Fantasy XI, Matrix Online, RF Online, Rappelz, Hero Online, Roma Victor

Make a new poll, poll is not editable.

UO for most of the time~and still my first love~, and after that SWG until NGE destroyed the game. Since then im burnout and play here and there, searching for a good MMO out there, DaoC, WoW and a long etc... but nothing really valuable so i stick to FPS.

It is a question of fangs.

I've played UO for 8 years and EQ for 6 years...

UO is still my personal favortie games over all the other mmo's...No game out there can give you so much fun experience being a multi class...and the freedom you have...its the only rreason why ikeep coming back to this game when i feel bored playing the other ones...i still have 100 million gold (checks) in my bank  but have nothing to spend it on...

i have a character thats legendary smith and tailor with gm tinkering carpentry and bowcrafting/fletching, so if anyone who needs anything made just let me know...i play on the great lakes server crafter name is Mule i'll be wearing a yellowish green fancy shirt long pants and mage hat...
