"There is no PvP 'feature'; there is no honor point tracking, no grinding for PvP gear, no silly loot restrictions. No items of profound power or item grinds. There is no invisible hand to save you from the consequences of your actions; the retribution of angry players against you for your transgressions will be unfettered by game mechanics. No classes, no dependencies. Most importantly, there is nothing in the game that you must do to be successful."
There is no GAME, there is nothing you CAN do to be successful!
How can someone review a game NOONE HAS EVER PLAYED (at least, noone that does have a vested interest in stringing people along)
I think the Darkfall website is just a ad revenue generating machine... every click means the "devs" get a couple more dollars, and can perpetuate this charade that much longer....

It's more of a dream... For what would be a completely amazing game that no one has even come close to yet.
Oh btw I found your tinfoil hat, must have fell off...

Well this could be it, except for the simple fact there are no ads on the official site...
Darkfall has only been in official development for a little over three years. Before it was just a few people working out of a basement. They now have an immensly financially stable supporter. Because of this I find the vaporware rants rather funny. They are in no cash rush to release.

So Darkfall is not a PVP game?
To me it looks like it is actually................
I don't know what the OP was reading, but surely it wasn't reading the statement above when he wrote this thread...............
It clearly says that "There is no PVP Feature", which means that there is not such an artificial and measured thing ala WoW, EQ2 or any of the others so called PVP games.
The PVP will be open, no honor points, no fantastic gear to be won, no loot restriction, which mean you can kill who you like and loot what you want. The only thing that can stop you is other people wrath if you piss off too many

how did you get tht Darkfall has no PVP?? It's just a title, to get someone to read the column. You put too much weight into it.
"Actually there's lots of people that have played the alpha version"
Hmmm...what's "a lot" to you? A hundred? A thousand? If "a lot" of people have played this game, there'd be more than just a handfull of screen shots and DEV"s stringing potential players around.
Oh yeah, how'd that Beta that was due out three or four years ago do.....no, wait, sorry, it *still* hasn't gone into Beta.
Because the DEV's want the game "near finished" before a doing Beta. ........who in the h*ll would believe a line like that?
Well, when they let a game magazine writer play the" alpha" a bit, maybe someone will believe them. Until then, it's vapor.
And maybe the poster that thinks that the DF website is just in place to earn income from clicky's might be correct.

Lets say a few dozen have played it. It's alpha version, what did you expect? And what's a 'handful' to you? Because there are propablycouple of hundred pics released, 10 or something like that today alone.
And maybe the poster that thinks that the DF website is just in place to earn income from clicky's might be correct.
Maybe, but then it would be the biggest and least lucrative scam of all times.
It's not vapor, I'm convinced of that. DnL/VG part 2 it may well be.

This is a common misconception about the game from people who don't follow it closely. Years ago there was a misunderstanding that came across from the devs. They were not talking about public beta, they meant alpha. I have still yet to see where they spoke of a public beta at that time, but either way, it has been cleared up many times. Now last year, they did indeed hype the beta a bit, and I'm not sure why, but that was the earliest they began such talk.
What the writer was trying to say was that Darkfall is simply a Player Run Sandbox. You are free to do what you want. What he defines as PvP Game is a controlled enviroment (like battlegrounds) where the developers hard coded in conflict
In Darkfall we are all free to do what we want. Many of us will run by each other. some will make war. Darkfall is a player run MMO.
Therefore it is improper to call it a "PVP Game". Yes, it has the features many of us pvpers want: risk vs reward, freedom, no class, no super uber duper loot, etc.
It is really just a sandbox that does not impose restrictions on us.
Heh, just because a game doesnt have all the "PvP mechanics" that WoW has....excuse me for a minute...hahahaha WoW PvP..oh good one...ahem doesnt mean that it cant have PvP. But hes right Darkfall isnt a PvP game, it isnt about some leet kid glory and ability to pwn everyone else. Its more about world domination or clan vs clan combat then a single person running around gaining rank.

ND, at least you got lucky that they only gave you a warning, I caught a one day suspension for the first flaming post I made, never got a warning...
But back on topic, I agree, from the author's description, there is no scripted PVP ruleset, its supposed to be the largest open sandbox game since the original UO and wide open FFA PVP is part of it.
Whether the player community will support such a concept again (they had no real option back in UO's day) remains to be seen. Have to wait until its released to find out.

To get back to the topic "DF is not a PvP game", it just mean its not as PvP we know it today. Example WoW PvP.
PvP is not a choice or something you will do when you feel for it.
DF PvP is the thing holding the whole DF concept togeather.
(when its released)
"DnL/VG part 2 it may well be..."
