The WoW on-line Armory lists 79 characters named "Rouge" and -- even better -- 77 named "Nightrouge." I wonder how many of them actually intended that spelling.
But given the oddities of English spelling, we should be happy that most people at least get all the right letters into it. After all, they might come up with "roge" (like "rode"), or "roag" ("road"), or "roweg" ("rowed"), or "roeg" ("hoed"), or probably half a dozen others that I can't think of offhand.

WoW may be a game, but stupidity is very much an issue of Real Life. If you have no problem ignoring it, then that's you, but some of us refuse to sit idly by and let people act like idiots.

Kudos to the OP, I hear you!
A little tolerance might be in order. My dad was never a good speller, but he was far from stupid (which I am old enough to admit). Besides coming from simple typos, consider that spelling errors could stem from fatigue, dyslexia, youth, poor education, and not being a native English speaker.

At no point did I ever say that misspelling the word "Rogue" directly indicates that everyone who does so is stupid. I am very aware that each person has individual skills that they may be lacking, but these are no indication of that person's general character.
However, when it's listed on the character creation screen (repeatedly) the CORRECT spelling of the word, and over 150 people still manage to misspell the word, I think it's safe to say that stupidity is rampant.
Wow, I can't believe the amount of people that say ROUGE.
some people have spelling difficulties, or how their brain types various words. I know people who type and get the "b" and "p" confused but continue typing unaware they are doing it, but at the same time knowing they do it, And fix it up after theyve finished.
It's not that great a miss-spelling.
I mean if i used rouge all the time and i was french, it would hardly matter.. as i've mistaken an english word for the french colour red. yeah turns out rouge means more than just "makeup", shock... horror.
What about colour.. i really hate the word color... did the americans really have to basterdise (proper word check it) the english language as well. Funny how Bush states that the majority of people in America should write and speak english (from recent speaches on immigration in America).... but then don't themselves.
irony is awesome.
One good thing about LOTRO is they add in all the "u's" for proper english. Unlike Blizzard where armor will, unfortunately, always remain that way.
/shrug
if you can't deal with "rouge" MMO's aren't for you... end off.
LOL I like the OP I think he ment this as a smile and laugh sort of bit ...
all of you going off the deep end saying ppl are stupid ..or even the ones defending the oppistite..
Need to relax lol..
there is a strange oddity in typing in some letter ..H and E seem to be the most common where your fingers just have poor timing hitting the key ...
I still think the OP was meening this as a laugh so GOOD job OP I agree with you LOL
and I think its funny at some of the goofy names you see in game. Some are really creative, some outright bannable ...but its all fun and games.
When they day comes that you take the internet or Video games so seriously as to get emmotional over how 1 word is spelled... seriously need to step back and go for a walk outside...
FUN ppl .. thats why you play games ...FUN ..

It's just as frequently said in the European servers as well. I think Rouge is more of a trend rather than a mistake, personally I spell the names the way the game intended.

Another example: I know better than to join a guild with misspellings in its name.
