The Adventure packs sound like alot of fun? Are they? Do alot of people even have it to make raids or groups?

Splitpaw is worth it in my opinion, I enjoy running through once a week or so with friends.

    I have all of them.

Splitpaw Saga is REALLY good. Lots of stuff for solo, group and raid. Plus, you can get some great stuff that really helps all through your career. I take every alt through Splitpaw, and it contains two of the most incredible raids you'll see in ANY game ever. Blows everything away. The scaling of the zones (instances) is quite remarkable. The only problem is the content scales up to 50th, so if you get past 50th level, you've outgrown it.

Bloodline Chronicles is quite the opposite.  Actually, it is a pretty fun little pack, and has a lot to do. There are a few cool things and the zones are done quite well. It's just out of the way, and requires a group after the first couple instances. If other people have the pack AND are of appropriate level AND are not doing other things, then taking a group through this is fun and rewarding. But most people skip it and only 2 of my characters have even been through it at all.

Fallen Dynasty is very well done, and a LOT of people play in it. It has loads of solo, group and raid content, and you'll find some of the best gear in the game there. One of the most difficult zones ever is in here, and you better be ready and a good player. Raids are brilliant and well done, and the lore is great. The look and feel of the areas is great too.

I personally would ask my friends/guild in game if anyone wants to do these packs togetehr with me  most of these can be done in small groups.

Bloodlines is for level range 35-45(50) and i its nice story based content if you are right level and can get a few friends to play it with you ( its not good to solo  you would have till content gets green or grey for soloing).

Splitpaw adjusts to your level from 20-50 and has some nice solo zones, so it might be worth it even without someoen else if you run out of things to do (but there are also group quests (zones) and raid content (which is very scripted and fun but limited to lvl 50 so hardly anyone does it now).

Finally fallen dynasty is for lvl 55-70 and has some solo quests to start with a big group dungeon and a few instances, 2 raid instances and some contested raid encounters. its not really worth getting it before you hit lvl 50 at that level you will be most likely in a guild allready and can see if these go to fallen dynasty or not (also i guess you can still get some pickup groups for fallen dynasty)

How do you access these "adventure packs"?  I picked up the whole package from Sony but did not see anything on how to get to these areas.  Am I missing something, like an in game command that just ports me there?  Do I have to go somewhere to gain access to them?  Silly question I know but I really don't know the answer.

The Adventure packs are seperate from the expansions which probably came with EQ2 when you downloaded it. If you the adventure packs you havee to download in addition.

The cost is $7.99 and you can order them via the Launch pad when logging into EQ2 click on the adventure pack button on the side.

If you want the adventure packs i would go Splitpaw first.  Don't order Fallen Dynasty until you are in your early 50's as this expansion is for levels 55 - 70 although i went there a little earlier.

Ah forgot to add the expansion packs do come free if you have a Sony Station account which is $30.  This account lets you play other games as well as EQ2.  If you subscribe to EQ2 only they are $7.99 as mentioned above

For Splitpaw, there is a /claim item you need to get. Type /claim and grab the mysterious shard. There are ports located in Thundering Steppes that start the series. Basically, you'll get "a darkened shard" in your inventory. If you examine it, it tells you to go to Thundering Steppes. Once in the Steppes you'll automatically get quest "Delving into the darkness". Examining the shard again will give you an image of the bone structure you are looking for. There are three of them in TS.

For Bloodline Chronicles, it is also a /claim item. /claim the Ring of T'haen. When you examine it, it gives you a quest "D'Morte Burial Chambers" and you'll find his zone in Nektulos Forest.

For Fallen Dynasty, you can /claim a bonsai tree(?) I think, but it doesn't start any quests or anything. It's just a cool house item. The bells to "The Ilse of Mara" are on TS docks and Nektulos docks with the other bells.

Splitpaw is great for xp and loot (granted they nerfed it a little) but well worth your cash, the other 2 it has to be said less so.

/agree that Splitpaw is one of the best for below 50. I love those boarsheads you can get for your house.

Mara is worth it as well in my opinion, the zones are well done, there are interesting quests to do in the town (not just kill 75 things and return) and the item drops are good.

Oh and lesson I learned the hard way...do NOT poke the crab, unless you have 23 of your very best friends with you. Something about curiosity and the cat...

If you like to try and do everything do it. I find a lot of people have station access and are up for doing these sometimes. I also find some people just like to be in their own world and don't really do any kind of grouping.

I just now started Splitpaw, as I have never done these before and just returned, but I do plan on trying them all and hopefully can throw a group together to do them all properly.

11 of your friends, crab is a X2. He drops the best pants in the game right now for scouts.

if you solo alot buy splitpaw.

if you want a little more challenge in group content buy Mara ( forget the expansion name its the latest one )

the vampire one, ie bloodline chronicles you can save your four dollars for something else.

  • I have all the AP's, but I have had Station Access since startup (actually before.. I used to play EQ1 also) so they were free.

I am not sure that at this stage any of them are "needed" for now if you get the latest expansion - there is so much else to do, and most of the AP's are aimed at the mid to upper levels. But some have some nifty and neat rewards. I think worth getting if you plan to play a long time, as they do have some group content that is somewhat popular.

You will likely miss or outlevel 50% of the game as it is while leveling so i dont really see the point of adventure packs
As for grouping or raiding i only see ppl doing that for the third but once kunark is released it will be less popular

Actually I would say that you will miss a lot more than 50% - more like 80%.

But on the other hand, that means that unlike LOTRO your alts will not have to do the same old quests, mobs, and zones.

In fact my new Evil Fairy alt at 22 has yet to repeat any quest I have done before - and besides my main (level 70 conjuror), I have several active alts in the 25 to 55 range.

I bought every adventure pack in the first year (well, there weren't so many after all) and I found 'em quite useless. Yes, we got new monsters and new dungeons and so on... but I already had a lot of quests and new places to visit so I just didn't pay much attention to the adventure packs. They're cheap? Quite cheap, yes. Are they worth the price?  No, if you ask me.

Knock the world right off its feet and straight onto its head.

Thanks bahamut1 I never went back to find out. It became a joke - "yeah remember that time Jerana poked that crab?!"

But if it has pants for scouts - woohoo I am on my way.

I went to purchase the splitpaw saga after reading some of the responces in this thread.

Turns out I already have all the adv. packs.  Now the blue stone that I've had stored in a chest for some months now makes a lot of sence.

So I went out to TS to check it out.  I run up to a portal and start killing some of the gnolls around it when another group of gnolls runs over and the next thing you know I'm taken prisoner.  Almost crapped myself.  Was not expecting that.

    Very nice.

Although I do feel bad for the drawf I left behind to be eaten.  Well, he did tell me to save myself; so I did.

    Wish Darkfall would release.
