Well the big Zerker nerf was post SL expansion so im guessing you've seen most of that,.TOA was a really cool idea, but came through very poorly.  TOA is a camp fest and the "trials" suck because they are just raids, that are planed far apart and youll spend forever trying to get a group going to do the trial your on. The feel of TOA underwater is amazing, and the new graphics truely rock. but grahpics aside. I would say wait for catacombs. DAOC isn't any better, yet.

Ehm I'd say pick up a trail copy and try the new free expansion (New Frontiers) on the test server, peepz are raving about it... Havent really given it a proper look myself though...

I'd answer that by saying too much has changed.  Mythic is still playing it's playerbase by changing classes left and right to keep the players as unbalanced as their game is.  They are upping the imbues on drops throughout the original lands... leading to further inflation in the game.  Players are becoming too powerful to the point where the game is boring them.  This inflation seems to be the standard in the industry though, so no real fault to Mythic... they're just following the standard long set by MUDs before them.  Coming back though, you will find a long climb before you as in a competative game you must be near the top to hope to contribute to any action other than zerg warfare.

    LoL

Hey Shags, I'm curious - While I agree that Mythic REALLY needs to focus on Balance instead of the "Crap I nerfed the NS too much, now I gotta nerf the Infiltrator to catch up" theory - overall - I still think its MUCH more balanced than any of the other level based MMORPG games on the market.

And honestly - Every non-Level based MMO I've played.. I've been sorely dissappointed in.

So I'm curious - which game do you play (For enjoyment), since it certainly appears that its not DAoC

And honestly, I'm just curious, not attempting to be a imageboy

Well I have yet to disagree again... Personally I have some epic armor and some quest armor from Shrouded Isles and the normal world, I do have one ToA sword, I have no MLs and no artifacts, yet I made RR3 in 2 weeks and am whacking mids and albs all over the place (50 BM), provided that the group setup is good (i.e. 1/2 bards, 1/2 druids, some tanks and some mages). In my opinion its very much play style as well not just the items. For instance i have a lvl 21 ranger with fully sc-ed armor, weapons and bow... Yet i, well <censor> at it... for some strange reason me and my ranger dont go along very well. On the other hand maybe its due to the other group members having ML abilities and ToA stuff, but i find it very much possible to play and enjoy RvR without all that stuff (i'm too lazy to get it atm).

    Cheers Doc,

I heartened to hear someone who can play the game and enjoy it without all the newest toys :)  -  Ya I honestly don't see the point to all the ToA stuff, I was basically just re-spewing forth what I continually read in alliance and guild from the two servers/realms I play heavilly on.

Well RPGs classicly revolve around character building which is often ability and item based, so from that perspective ToA is a great addition... maybe Mythic has overdone it a little so that players are kinda shocked by all the changes it brought to the game. In effect artifacts bring an indefinate lvl-ing cycle. So from a long term perspective it could be good. Yet one of the side effects is that people just need another thing then just camping spots over and over again. Also some arti-raids and ML-raids are just ridiculious hard... (tried to get Malice and later Battler with a well balanced FG of 50-s yesterday without FoP and no way we could pull either one off... out of mana->tanks dead->support dead->arti raid dead.... image

A lot of people were mad about how you had to have artifacts and MLs to be on par and not be gimped, but I hear that in NF that won't be the case. The individual player is no longer as powerful, so in RvR you're just one more hydralisk in the zerg and what gear you're wearing will hardly make a difference. While that may sound bad, I like it because I do not intend to do any of the ToA quests once I hit 50 or do any artifact hunting. I'd rather hide in a keep doing my GTAoE spells than have some big huge tank smear me with his 9999 artifacts he has equipped. From what I hear, that's what NF will allow.
