have you ever built up a colony, put a lot of money into it, to keep everybody happy? spent time, money, and gas transporting turrents to defend it? painstakenly placing the turrents in a strategic fashion, to blow intruders to bits? you log off, with the feeling that your well-defended colony is safe from evil.? Only to log back in a few hours later to find your colony invaded? you then go back to find that your defenses are still up and are now shooting at you.
You ask yourself,"how did they get to my colony?"
Answer: they slid by them on the outside, rimming between the turrent and the rocky wall, there is not enough room to pass inbetween 2 turrents, but you can go around them on the ontside while brushing up against the wall.
Suggestion: when turrents form a barrier in a tight corridor on the planet surface, the only way through should be to destroy the turrents, not to go around them.

Well unless the player has 3 superconductors and 16,000 shields he ain't going to breach your biodome because it takes 1000 energy to get in and each turret hit takes off about 100 energy. So the best idea is to place buncha turrets around your biodome and get that bloody solar cannon a.s.a.p.
I have around 70 turrets on my Paradise colony and have seen an entire corp try to take it and laughed as they were shot down one by one by my turrets. I think there should be a higher form of defense though, such as a laser shield or big metal wall.
