WoW haters

For all you World of Warcraft haters, allow me to ask you this:

Have you ever really played World of warcraft? If so, have you gotten past ten?

I think you cannot make an informed opinion without getting into the thick of gameplay. I recently began WoW, and i think the graphics are great, and the  gameplay is excellent! Some games I've played had superb graphics, but terrible gameplay, and vise versa.

Please tell me your informed opinion, and i prefer that nobody just says "omg, WoW is for dumb 12 year olds" Just say your honest opinion in a kind manner, no flaming, just think about your post before you click "Post Reply"

I don't hate WoW myself but I can definitely see some of the points they make about the game.  I think what makes them tick are people who are too easily pleased and don't ask for more.  They also hate the people who practically worship Blizzard.  There are definitely problems with the game but the game is a lot of fun and enjoyable.  If people showed more of a neutral view of the game they enjoy there would not be as many problems.

I voted "good".  I voted this because the game is fun, but lacks an innovation that makes me more than an amusement park.  WoW is basically like walking into disney land.  The rides are all laid out and they are a lot of fun to ride.  Eventually you ride them all too many times and want to go somewhere else.

I have multiple toons past level 40 in WoW. I hate the game, I hate the majority of the community to boot. I played it due to peer pressure from real life friends. When they quit, I quit. I thank god everyday for giving the wisdom to quit :P

I played a Warrior to 60. It was great at the beginning, faded to good, and finally became terrible. I quit playing for a year. But that initial experience of the game was good, and I'd forgotten all about how terrible the rest of it was, I bought the expansion and played my warrior to 63. That didn't make me like it again, so I tried several alts before finally quitting.

Overall, it's a completely mediocre game. Nothing really stands out about it. There are a few things I like about it, but they're not good enough to make me put up with the rest.

WoW is fun for awhile but in the end you see how boring it really all is. I have 2 level 70's and about 4 60's. The game just doesnt hide its grind at the end as well as it does during the leveling process. Nothing ever changes in the game. Any progress you make now will just be wiped away with another expansion and make it all useless. On an up note Blizzard spends most of its 100 million a month developing other games so dont expect an expansion for a few years. Free content is few and far between. What was an extremely casual friendly game from 1-70 becomes something more like a job after 70.

Well i personally played my character level 60 druid for 40 days played time, and in the begining i loved it, i soon found at 60, the aim of the game was grind pvp or instances for itemization purposes, or start an alt. Well i went on did my best to get some good pvp gear, then BC came out, and i looked forward to it, they even made druids a bit better...but they destroyed 10 days of my play time in one fell swoop, i spent all that time getting good gear and was now getting pawned by noobs in mix and match greens! no i couldnt just start all over again to get to 70 and start the same shit getting it all at 70 wacking out another 20 days just to have the shame stuff hit me twice..."guess what guys new expansion!".  basically an Over priced expansion that blinded many players with phrases such as "Two new races!" "New lvl cap" .....what they mean is, well everyone is starting to get bored of the game soooo....lets make them start over!

Nope BC killed WoW for me.

    i played wow pretty long

to lvl up and explore every instance was really fun but the endgame....

every day raiding and making pvp got boring so fast, u cant do anything else

after u been at every place u cant explore anymore

after getting every item out of some new raiding instance u prefer to shoot yourself then keep raiding that instance

so i gave up playing after 1,5 years  since there is almost no endgame and that makes wow so bad

Ok here it goes, my opinion.

I've played WoW for 2 years. During beta, I hated it. Static stats, I hated the Night Elf looks ( was the only lagfree continent ), I disliked the cartoony feel, but most of all, it didn't really seem to have a point at the beginning.

So I was most definately not planning on playing and paying, untill friends started playing and I found out I could actually enjoy playing WoW, through its community.
Since then I've been amazed several times. Firs time to walk into IronForge from its frontgate, marvelous. First time I saw ?? mobs, scary shit, but as time passed by and many characters further, I rolled my true love. The tank.

I've never really left my tank ever since I started playing him. This resulted in extreme addiction to the game and I h

I played WoW free trial for a few hours and after sometime it became clear to me that this is the same old style of gameplay i've been playing since when i started playing MMOs. For some reason I just don't see what people find so great about WoW.

I never hated WoW, I just got bored with it like a lot of other people.

I had a lvl 60 raiding shaman and quit a bit after AC, but before Naxx.  The whole grinding faction to do this or that was a terrible timesink.  I thought that PvP honor system was horribly done as well.  I liked playing in the battlegrounds, but the rewards were just not there for casual playing.

I just couldn't see myself ever playing again, even tho I loved the game before they put in the huge timesinks.

  • MasterPain55MasterPain55 Member Posts: 257

WoW is hated because its more of a occupier than a game, WoW becomes an obsession and not a piece of entertainment. If you ever played WoW you know what i mean, sure some parts of the game are entertaining. But in the long run you find your self mindlessly killing npcs with a 0 fun factor and your only motovation to continue playing the game is a purple text item. I plyed the game since launch i only quit about 3 months ago, i did make it to 70 and WoW is not a fun game, its a occuping game that will consume you and just hooks you to the point where you wont let go.

    Summary

"Everything to do in WoW has a purple on the other side"

Save your time....Save your life.... Play a real game.

WoW is a moddern day version of Pokemon the classic "Gotta Catch'em All" only in wow this involves Purples.

Basically WoW will R.I.P alongside with pokemon and other fads thats each generation has.

Let's re-break this down. WoW is a huge game, one of the more content filled games around. It is also very overhyped, by the fact that it is a popular franchise, and through game-cards, easily accessible for people who don't own a credit card. The grafix are what you make of them. If your computer can handle it, 40+ fps all full detail, the game looks fantastic. If you can't, ok then it does look like ****. Cartoon style has nothing to do with grafical quality of a game on it's own. If you take a look at cell shaded games, there the animations can be outstanding, where the looks give a gentle feel, not unlike WoW.
So why does WoW attract so many youngsters? Because of the hype, and the game cards.
Very easy here. If you don't like it, search the forums for a server with some mature guilds, and join them. Problem solved. If you can't get yourself to go check forums for that, what are you doing here reading my post anyway? I'm not halfway done. For someone who hates forums and never posts, this is the biggest post i'll make in my life.

Do kids ruin the game? Not too likely, unless you are an extreme kid-hater. Children are not the ones promoting gold selling. And how would you suggest these kids getting hold of means go get gold from gold sellers? Ok, they do not understand Auctionhouse marketing, there i'd say so what, it's only a game. Adopt, adapt and improve.
Gold sellers where a problem untill the most recent patch, at least on my server (Boulderfist (EU)). Their numbers are decreasing. If I get one whisper a week, it's a record. I do not know the status of other servers though, so I could be way off here.
The content is indeed nothing new. I believe what WoW is, and should be seen as, a step into the world of MMORPGs. WoW is the same start as other MMO players had years back, but redone and for a bigger audiance.
The main problem I believe in this game is quality balance. Gear usually wins over skill, which should not happen as often as it does. The big problem is some people getting lucky, getting epic world drops for free, while others do 20 weeks of raiding and get next to nothing. So if Blizzard will ever make an MMO again (seeing the money they earn they should) that should be the main focus. I agree this point about the game is just wrong, no more needs to be said about it.

I am a slight addict myself, and I hate myself for it. I lose a lot of time just playing online, but at the end of the day, I think it was still worth it. I have REALLY enjoyed the game for over a year, including TBC. This is mainly because I found some good quality mature players from all over Europe, and I am still good friend with some, even though the original guild is long gone. Every MMO has one same principal, community. As I stated before, if you want a good community, try some research, it saves countless lives, hours of frustration, and visits to your docter because you have a keyboard stuck to your forehead.

Now I know the person who started the post asked for no flaming, but the person who posted the reacion i'm quoting hasn't really understood the concept either. The only question asked was if you had played it, and to name certain points. You go on ahead with why wow sucks, and why EQ2 should be any different. All i'd like to say is that you haven't convinced me. Maybe that also has to do with me mistrusting people who don't know the correct usage of a fullstop.

World of Warcraft is not a crime. Inflicting your stupidity on humanity is!

  • TyrranosaurTyrranosaur Member UncommonPosts: 284

As the previous post said, gear wins over skill too much in WoW's endgame. But other than that, I love the game, and enjoy the wird, cartoony, steampunk universe it evokes. People bitch about leveling, grinding, pvp, whatever....I play this game because it's relaxing, easy to grasp, social, and has a fun story. I don't get in to the endgame much, I don't have the hardcore mentality for it, but the game has many levels at which it can be enjoyed, and it works for me.

But I hate the stinking pvp at end game, because I lack the uber gear, and keep getting my ass kicked.....

Since tbc came along i absolutely hate it specifically because they took the shaman enhancement specc which was a strong pvp spec in vanilla wow and utterly raped it down to little more than a leveling spec and turned our old pve (resto) tree into the only really viable specc. Bait and switch so Fuk em 2+yrs play time ripped up over night.

On top of that it's just bevome even more of a rep/gear grind (yawn) with world pvp still as dead as it's always been. Endgame = raiding and that's it period and if you find them raids boring as hell ur screwed gearwise. Never should have hired those wanker raiderrrs from EQ to be on the dev team. I remember them 'back in the day' in eq and they really were just a couple of obnoxious bullies who should have been banned.

Thank you all, for posting your opinions in a polite and mindful way, i really appreciate it.

I personally like WoW, but my highest character is only lvl 19. The storyline is excellent compared to other games I've seen. Some games are you just kill monsters 'till you hit the lvl cap. But, in WoW, there is much more than that, especially if you RP. If you RP, you can get past your mundane, boring life and you can be anything you want. You can be an undead warrior that eats all of his opponents after he kills them. You can be a Dwarf Miner, attempting to find a mythical stone somewhere in the world. My point is, you have to make your own fun. If you are bored of PvP, then go make some friends in an inn somewhere, or try to do your class quest for every race! Just get out in the world of warcraft and have sume fun!

Now, the WoW kiddies...I have heard that many youngsters go to alliance because they look less...hideous. As far as I can tell, this is true. My sister has had problems with immature creeps following her around, and she is alli. I am horde, and I have almost never had that problem. My point is, there will be immature players in every game, and if they are annoying you, ignore them/report <offence>/walk away/kill them :)

Buying gold...I think this is a scam, and this makes the entire game harder for people who dont buy gold. In BG, I try my best, and ALL of the alli are twinks, it's annoying. Also, part of the fun of the game is earning everything you get. You don't earn that gold, you just bought it off of someone.

    Keep the replies comin!
