*sigh*, as if some of this stuff has ANYTHING to do with it being an enjoyable game to play. Somehow, I think this is an awful lot of focusing on the wrong stuff, however... With the statement: "PS: One of the screenshots has been censored because unlike Age of Conan, this site is not rated mature! " So keep saying it's not in the game..... Either or guys, does this kind of stuff really matter all that much to you, I mean, in the scheme of things, will this be the determining factor on if it's a good game or no?
It'd be out of place in say WoW but being a longtime reader of Howard's Conan stories the topless cult girl is completely believable for the game world. From cultists to commoners to queens - a lot of the woman of the Hyborian Age just plain went around naked. So while I don't necessarily want to see it in WoW I've got no problem with it in AoC as it's staying true to the source material.
If you think about it parents wont let little kids play the game because of the ingame nudity and the obvious mature content.
Therefor almost every person playing will be either mature teens or adults, kids will be forced out of playing the game by there parents.
This will for very first time in mmorpg's make the playerbase almost all mature older people.
No more little kids running around cursing and screaming and ruining game play for others.
I hope they put on the Box in very large letters "NUDITY" "18+" and "GORE" it will make any parent say hell no tot here stupid kids when they ask for it.

Hiring a hitman to kill you IRL would have to be compared to having a woman show up at your door flashing you every time you went to the dungeon with the naked model. I doubt either of those will happen...
Rape is illegal (much like killing people, which you do in the game a lot and should bother people more than a couple of breasts), breasts are not.. The game is not to promote illegal acts..
Adding penises is not similar to having breasts.. The male characters run around without a shirt, that's equal to female characters not having a shirt on.. As far as I've seen, there are no completely nude characters ingame, neither male nor female.
I'm surprised that in a fanbase I thought to have a high percentage of males, people react more negatively towards the female upper body than the male.. If you find breasts so hideous, don't go to that dungeon, it's not really that hard to not go somewhere.. If you need to play a game to see some breasts, your time is probably better spent going outside to find a girlfriend...

As far as we've seen, it's not as if everybody runs around naked, we've seen one female raid boss who has a bare upper body, you would think that as the game is rated mature people are actually mature enough to handle such a thing.

I'm pretty disappointed to see the nudity. I am a big fan of boobs, myself... but video game boobs don't do anything for me. It just means I can't play the game with my son, or even when he is in the room... so it probably means I'll just skip the game. My son is a very mature 11, but he still doesn't need to play a game where the titties just fly in the breeze. My wife would have my head on a pike if she found out i allowed it anyway. So the OP is right, it will keep young children away.... but it will also alienate a lot of adults. I agree with the guys saying this just means the game will be full of 16 - 23 year old ass-hats. It's stupid, but I see it all the time. A while back I was at my nieces house, and she complained about someone saying "s**t" on one of the cable channels, meanwhile totally ignoring the fact that he said '**** because some zombie was ripping his guts out and eating them, with profuse blood running all over.
I think we have quite a different idea of maturity and little kids. IMO a game with gore and nudity will attract the most immature people and the worst type of gamers. Kids below 18 are not the problem. Rather its the 18-25 year old kiddies that are the loudest and most obnoxious. The ones below 18 are generally a lot quieter and do not seem to have the need to express their opinion in the most obnoxious way possible that the 18-25 year old kiddies do. I do not mean to offend anyone here and I have seen many 25 year olds that are mature and can act like adults.
If you want to make an adult game you can put a age 30 or 35 requirement so only adults can play. But, I do not think age restrictions will ever work in a game as it just breaks up friends and guilds. Rather what is needed is behavior restrictions. If people cannot control their behavior or language simply remove them from the adult servers and move them to a kiddie server where they can as rudely as they feel like. The problem is a lack of behavior rules and failure to enforce existing behavior rules by GMs.

I fail to see how nudity - something so prevalent in many of Howard's Conan stories - is a gimmick when it's put into the MMO version. Hell, a lot of times in the Conan stories when a new female character is even introduced she is almost completely bare-ass naked, regardless of if they're a protagonist or an antagonist. And the ones who do show up fully clothed do not tend to stay that way for long.
Stop calling it a gimmick, FFS. It's not a gimmick. It's as much a part of Conan's world as crazy ape-men with wings and ginormous snakes.
You guys are kidding yourselves if you think nudity, excessive graphic violence, and profanity is going to bring in a more "mature" audience.
