EQ 2 on the RP server, most definitely.
----- WoW and fast food = commercial successes. I neither play WoW nor eat fast food.
The ONLY MMO for person that likes roleplaying , relaxed atmosphere and prefers story over grind.
The housing is still not in, but will be implemented in september
The OP loves socializing and for the 2 weeks I played LOTRO all I heard was a rat squeak tbh, but then again it might just been my own little awkward experience.
We're all Geniuses. Most of us just don't know it.
Those games doesn't have housing, they have appartments. Housing means You can build You own house in land and choose what kind of look it has. Appartments are when You have ready made room(s) what You can decorate and acces the place trough "portal".
UO has full housing system.
Horizons has partial housing (can't decorate rooms or could not when I played it).
Who ever wanted to play it , played it and now is high level , or has moved on. This means new player will have a looooong trek from lvl 1to 60 just to meet up with players of his own level.
On other hand LOTRO is fresh and new. People are just starting to play it. Plenty of new players.
All this , set aside that LOTRO is technologicaly superior to EQ2 , looks better , and has loot of future stuff comming for it. While EQ2 has seen its high day long ago...
So much potential, all down the drain, at least it is free, or was the last time i checked (like 6 months ago).
Player housing (I think, you can build your own castles and cities and stuff and houses, maybe farms now too, who knows?). Very large game, only 1 big "server", very very very big game, not many people playing it, for good reason too. Up sides, big, few people to get in the way, looks nice, works sometimes.......
Downsides..........too many to count really, buggy, few ppl, hard to learn to play, hard to play in general.......what a joke....
Now i hate swg as it is, and i wouldnt recommend it to anyone... but if you are looking for player housing, this must be the number one mmo. I must give them that.
You can (or could when the game still was good for like 2+ years ago, not sure how it is today, but i think its the same) choose from several different houses (size and style), and you can place it almost wherever you want. You can aslo have more than one house. And they are non-instaced - just walk inside any house without loading time. Apart from furniture, every singel item you can loot, buy or craft can be placed in your house as decoration. You can even use items to "build" stuff, using your imagination. Now the rest of the game isnt that great imo, but if you can live in a star wars parody world, with a non-star warsy combat system, and dont mind if a game change every now and then, then i think this can be the game for you. Se if you can find a free trail.
I think vanguard have simular player housing, but if its better than swg it must be amazing. I havent played vanguard, so i cant tell for sure.
And for the social part of swg. No idea about the community today, but it used to be great. I dont think its the same today, but it cant be much worse than any other mmo. If you find someone to socialize with, the emote-sytem is supreme. There is tons of emotes, and when you type things, your avatar react on some words and perform a suitable emote. A great tool for roleplay.
Hmm, try EverQuest II on the Antonia Bayle server. It's the official RP server. And choose Qeynos unless you want to live in a evil and filthy city that is Freeport.
What about Kelethin and Neriak? I know they are relatively new additions, but I like them both better than the old starting cities. Go Neriak! The dark side needs YOU!

He also mentioned housing and there's no housing in LotRO.
Now let the boy make the right choice and buy EverQuest II.

Well, those cities didn't exist when I played the game in 2005 so I have nothing to say about that.
