Dead as the title says.
I've been playing this game since beta 4,or as Brad Mcquad finally admitted, alpha 2. Since the release was really beta and we are all paying to play a beta. Which some of us feel so honoroed to be doing. Me personally, well the sun finally broke through my clouds.
This game is crap. Not crap in the sense that the idea is crap but the implementation of that idea is total crap. I've got as of this writing 44 days 28 hours 23 minutes and 49 seconds as of the /played I just did while writing this. I have a 50 cleric on Shidreth named Artarist Finch if you feel like confirming that. I have been through one guild merger already. I have accumulated about 20 or so platinum, having spent a lot of that I am down to 4. I have a caravel which looks ok, and a smaller sloop. I have no house yet as there seems to be no point since they are going to merge all 15 or so servers into 4. Thus forcing us all to relocate any house we may have. Which also gives you an idea of player base. Your typical server these days for an mmo may hold 2500-5000 if I am being liberal with my numbers. So if a game only needs 4 servers to run its player base, thats like <counting on hands>........Less then 100,000! /sarcasm.
The graphics are good in my opinion, I have never been a fan of cartoony games and I like more realistic worlds with fantasy elements. However the game crashes so often, more often then old people in bumper cars. I have a Intel core 2 duo 6600 with 2 gig of ram and an 8800 gtx which I can play any other game at ultra high. VSOH I cannot play at ultra high for more then 20 minutes without so many leaks it throws itself off a cliff and lands back on my desktop. That may not make much sense , but it is imagery of a bad crash. On balanced it runs a little more bearable. I can usually play for 4 hours without crashing. When it crashes nobody knows, soemtimes I am ridiing along on my unicorn, or sometimes I am simplly staring across an open field typing to my guild and CRASH, to the desktop I am a going.
I am level 50 and have been for a month or so and spend my days leisurely LFG, while I pretend crafting isn't to boring<to me>.Diplomacy is also a very interesting idea, but not really the glue that held the Ark together.
I have tried many of the level 50 areas and of course most are broken or half implemented, mobs needed for quests, do not give credit, or do not drop anything, like the level 51 6 dot in flordiel who gave me a deformed treant branch the oother day. Reminds me of when we killed a boss in eq1 and he dropped a cloth cap. Good times to be had by all.
Funny thing to, I canceled my account and then at the behest of my guild decided to re-up. Now the guild that used to be able to field 3 full 6 people groups has ME and maybe 2 other people on most primetimes. So much for that right? Canceling again.
Someone ont he beta forums so elequently stated"This game has potential, people who smoke pot also have potential. However if they continue to smoke pot they won't really be using this potential wll they?"
Vanguard needs several months in rehab without shaving it's head or getting DUI's while on probaation.<shot at celebs in america!>
Then maybe it can earn this 7.9 it got somewhow. Until then, find another game or <gasp> go outside.

Always bad if one doesn't find the fun out of a game he/she played, but seriously, the name is different in this topic, the lvl's might be different in this topic, but i read this post already allot of times (not this actual post about you or its content but you get my drift..i hope) just everyone that leaves has already said these things. Somehow i get the feeling its trendy these day's, should i now make time to go to forums of games i left aswell?

12/20/2006 is when I started playing , begining of phase 4 beta.
I played a half giant druid for most of beta, then switched to qalathari human cleric for the game.
So yes, at this point actually I think that is 7 months.
The game was really fun at first, but so are the majority of MMOS when they come out, all fresh and new and exciting.

Did you get bored of the game or is the game bad? You played for maybe 7months and the game sucks? Or maybe you actually managed to do pretty much everything the game has to offer now? Im sorry but I doubt you suffered while playing all these months.
You have accomplished almost everything the game has to offer, and it seems you enjoyed yourself most of the time.
that very well seems that the game delivered for you for that time.
Fact is, game is very slow atm on bringing out new things for you to enjoy yourself, and thats normal with such a crappy lauch, so many problems to fix etc etc.
So take a few months break, try out something else and come back after a mayor update or so, it will be fun again then!
Take a break, come back in a few months. I am not going to take a break; I love the game, have a lot of friends in it.
But if you are not having fun, and do not want to support Vanguard, do not play.

I played the same way most of the other people played who have dropped out of the game game. Maybe the next patch will make it better. Each patch promised to make it better, each patch promised to fix the hitching and the crashing. None of it was delivered.
Leveling up was always "Hey lets try this area it looks neat, hey this guy has quest". "Oh ,so now three quests into this chain it is broken? Great."
Sure I enjoyed it for the first few months. It has however become glaringly apparent that the game needs to go back in the oven on high for a few months.
I have a fileplanet account and I download pretty much every beta there is , I've played most any mmo I can think of listed on here or any other site, even some I cannot read. I stuck with Vanguard because I played WOW to 3 level 60s and everything else currently is just a WOW clone and I hate that cartoony style of graphic, Vanguard had/has potential with their ideas of crafting and diplomacy and the ships and housing, but as I quoted earlier about the pot smokers, potential does not make a great game.

I think Vanguard is great now but has work to get done, which SOE is doing.

A: for someone to be bored with an MMO due to content lack in 7 months is not someone who needs a break, its someone who needs to find a real MMO... I applaud the OP for finally coming to his senses
B: Did you get bored with the game or is it bad? If you get bored it IS bad...
C: 7 months in and still fixing/adding content isn't a crappy launch, its a crappy game
Why play Vantard when EQ2 has all the same formula but actually runs? Hel, even Shadowbane lasted longer than this and its had a shitty release...
