I had the game at launch and i played up till the nge came out. i loved running into random people on swg and starting convo's or finding some guy in a town in the middle of no where and he would give me a tour of his house or something like that. Pre-cu was defininetly the best game experience i ever had, but than again i quit shortly after nge cause of the emptyness. I actually destroyed my character before i quit.... well once my av-21 blew up i spent all my money on a city hall than quit, and got rid of my account.
So now i have 2 lv 70's on a frozen account on WoW, and im debating weather to return to WoW or start fresh on SWG. Can i expect to find groups easy and have the same type of experiences that i had in pre cu? also is it even worth me coming back to swg, im not sure what the state of the game is so if you feel its about to collapse lemme now before i throw them 15$.
Also, I use to play on Bria. Do they still do a lot of player events, i use to like to go to the events and meet up with a bunch of people. Also are cantinas still empty or are they loaded with people like pre cu was?

Take the game as a new experiance, forget about how it was (though in some cases it helps knowing some things from the past somewhat) But i see no reason why you can not have a simliar fun experiance, yes allot has changed but on the other hand allot seems to be the same aswell. (like i said forget the grief atleast i felt that at the time of pre-cu swg, and start fresh)
Its kinda hard to say to you if you should return as i could not really figure out what kind of player you are, meaning a combatant or crafters as i can't speak for combatant as i recently returned aswell to SWG but took the Trader path for now to get back into the game, as crafting in SWG for me personaly is still the most fun system.(it seems to be very dumped down as i aint no hardcore player, but crafting from lvl 10 till lvl 18 took me about 20 minutes with only to make a few harvies, afcourse it helped that i made about 6k of the trail station to buy some harvesters as soon i landed on the surface and set them up to get me my basic resourses to be able to when reaching lvl 10 to be able to make harvies which is given great xp, its 3/4crafted harvies to lvl I just enjoy being able to use all sorts of resourses which also depends on stats, instead of getting res. which is everywhere the same and when used get always hte same results like every one else. High end resourses might always have the same out-come but then you do need to be able to find those res. and spawns are still nice and random.
So maybe some more info about your gamestyle might spark some more reactions then seeing people only clikcing this section to read what you have to say
I'm playing on Farstar, notice enough people but not needed to grop as of yet basicly cause i'm a crafter, but market is pretty harch for newbies or re-starters, so make sure you do the intro trail to get some money before landing as you do need it to atleast get a basic setup aswell weaponary might you get in as combantant.
Sad to say it, but SWG feels more like a WoW clone now than ever.
The new leveling system makes every Sandbox lover cry..
I'd recommend finding some other game if the old Threadmill style isn't your fancy..
Played so far: 9Dragons, AO, AC, AC2, CoX, DAoC, DF, DnL, DR, DDO, Ent, EvE, EQ, EQ2, FoMK, FFO, Fury, GW, HG:L, HZ, L1, L2, M59, MU, NC1, NC2, PS, PT, R:O, RF:O, RYL, Ryzom, SL, SB, SW:G, TR, TCoS, MX:O, UO, VG, WAR, WoW...
It all sucked.

I tried the trial, and the game plays way different now. I didn't know it was the same game, it felt like a fps action game or something strange that isn't expected from a rpg. I don't think i'll be able to play combat with the way the game currently is, from my experiences rpgs have a more calm way of handling the avatar. Fighting in this type of system is definitly not my style and i don't think iv'e ever seen it done before, i guess you can say its unique but not to my flavor. I tried changing the setting for auto aim and auto shoot and all that but it really didn't make much of a difference. I'm not saying that this is bad im sure some people might like it, but its to fast pace for me. I like the old days when i could just hit the button a few times or stack my moves and watch my character perform them. i watched a video of the space combat and i got dizzy. id like to experiement with the trader class more because it will probaly be something i like, although im locked in outter space and i cant really experience the game. I know there is a lot going on down there and i wish i wasn't constricted to the space station. The demo makes me think of the game like halo or something, a map to go around and shoot at things. I guess if i really want to see if the game is good im going to have to activate for a month.
For the question above, im more of a freelance kind of person, i like to do a little bit of everything.
Last month I reinstalled the game to try it out.
Ill be very honest with you. I logged in after 8 hours of patches...ran around a bit. And logged off. I waisted an entire month of game play. Nothing really had changed. And this was me pretending not to think about the old way.

I was bored, so i thought I would try the trial to see what the NGE was really like. I bought the game at release back 2003 but had left just prior to the CU, returning very breifly to try the CU when it launched.
My thoughts on the current game? Fun, I found the trial to be great fun, one of the best trials in my opinion. And I think they did very well to inject some Star Wars into it, meeting Han, Chewie etc. Sure it would have been nice to leave the sation, but they had to lock it to slow down the spammers on free trial. The trial is quick but that didn't stop me from trying out Smuggler, BH, Commando, Entertainer and Jedi. Pre-CU/NGE I was always changing professions but got so far and then got bored really.
After the fun of the trial I decided to resub and check my old account, but didnt get too far ( and Lowca was dead ) so I rerolled on Bloodfin, which to my surprise was pretty busy. The legacy quest line has so far been great fun and engaging, and the added fun of the JTL and space combat is welcomed.
So in closing SWG gets a from me. is it what it used to be? No. Is it as bad as is often made out? No, in my opinion.
P.S Any active Imperial PA's looking for recruits on Bloodfin?

Sorry man but gamers DO NOT warn other people, thats such a strange thing to even consider, its just not done, sure we see it all the time, but people that do not know eachother can never warn eachother as we do not know if the other person has the same intrest. It would be completly arogant to even consider that people could actualy WARN others for a GAME lol. I just think people take games far and FAR to serious they seem to forget none is forced to play these game. Well if they understood its a game then obvious one would never warn others.
So trust me when i say no one could warn others they do not know. If you felt the need to "warn" someone atleast talk about your experiance, sorry but saying the trail is decent is honostly not really sharing any experiance is it now. Just like other responses that didn't say squad other then "Noeeess don't come back (cry cry) SOE is soooo Evill and its the boogyman......"NOT
What happend to you when you got of the station?, did you play pre-cu-SWG? did you go back to the places you already knew and found out allot has changed?, as yes allot has changed, so far i notice allot has been made allot easy'r as pre-cu-SWG was a horrible grind when you was a crafter and so far with 2 chars. (with min.play) both lvl 28 traders, got myself a nice house (which i made myself the minute i got the skill, i also placed my house already near Mos Eisly, i made 126k of money with the vendor i setup in my house ( well vendor was actualy placed last friday aswell my house). This isn't me bragging in WOW i'm rich cause i'm positive that overall its not even much money what i made seeing people make 1 to 100mil if not more with simply 1 item/sale. But then i don't have to play like them, kinda have the feeling that people see those with millions already they feel that out of reach or to much for them to compete with so the leave or are bored.
I mean even for a dumbdown game as SWG is compared to pre-cu SWG it still has lots of iccentive to play it (atleast from my experiance as a trader) I do compare it to Vanguard the game i do like but have left somewhat lesser active there. And the things i made/done in SWG as a trader compared to the crafter i really enjoyed in Vanguard, SWG just offers that Star Wars scene that i always been fan of since a kid and overall Sci-fi atracts me more and has always atracted me more then Dwarf/Elf or Orc or whatever mideveil race.
So like i said the game is decent overall and i would not know why someone could not enjoy him/her self with, unless its someone that wants or needs the pre-cu SGW back, then i have to say don't play the game with such a mind set as its small minded to do so and people end up like we see those disgrunted once on these forums aswell people that do not share any info but need to warn others LOL. If one is just looking for a quick mmo fix SWG might also not be their game, but seriously if one likes the SGW settings and mmorpg i would not know what not to like, unless one can only focus on hte politcs behind a game instead of enjoying one self
But people need to realize that it okay aswell to not like the game, none has to force you to play but if you do try it as a new game, so don't jump down on the planet and think about all the things you did or had. Just think "hey this is a new game and you need to figure things out how they work now. Best change of doing that is to socialize as soon you land, there is tons of info down there but like i said socialize to blend in else it might turn out another game that people will leave.
But still people need to stop pretenting they are capable of warning other, share your experiance and let the person who wants to read the info make up his/her own mind with the info given.
