I chose Knight of the Blazing Sun.  I really wanna hear more about them.  All the other tank classes have gotten more attention then them D:

I'd rather there were more classes, due to the scope of the empire army (the states) and allies of Kislev and the Moot. Plus the 8 colours of magic. oh well.... c'est la vie

    *shrugs*

    But Warrior Priest

Witch hunter will probably be the most popular, (hence why i chose it) but I must admit that the Bright Wiz looks really fun. Who doesn't love fire?

I'm actually gonna play an Orc Choppa but if i was playing an Empire class it would definitely be Bright Wizard cuz i like how Paul described them as pyromaniac's. And they look cool too.

Since I can't be a Skaven or a Night Goblin, I will be a Black Orc. As far as the Empire, I love the whole Cult of Sigmar thing, so Warrior-Priest. I do like the look of the Witch Hunters, though.

is there such fire mage at chaos to or only at empire?
  • I am happy that people like Zakavar have interest in Knights of the Blazing Sun. I have been worried about that this would be the less favour choice of tanks. When you consider how much attention the other class have gotten. Thumps for that Zakavar.

Most of the Empire arch-class are pretty favoured. All the other choice seems to be very popular, special the witchhunter. For my concerns I would have picked the Firemage, simple because he is the prime range DPS nuker in WAR.

Bright Magic, is made up of one of the 8 colours of magic, which makes up the magic of the good in Warhammer world itself.

High Elf Magic is a combination of these 8 colours, in it's most powerful form. (When the High Elf Wizard - Teclis - came to teach the Empire after Magnus' fight against chaos and the almost fall of Kislev, it was decided that Humans could not use High Elf magic so it was broken down to make it easier for wizards to train in one of the colours)

Chaos Magic is different and is seen in 4 forms; the same forms as the chaos gods themselves - Khorne, Nurgle, Slannesh and Tzeentch, and of course there's a neutral standpoint as well ;)

The greatest of all the Chaos gods with magic is of course Tzeentch whose wizards fly on discs

So, no - no fireballs from the Chaos Wizards.. depending on your alignment, mostly giant balls of green plagues that melt the flesh. And other very nasty stuff :) they're evil... and since battlemagic (yup that long ago), i think Chaos Magic have enough lore and magic that have been mentioned... to create some very interesting stuff. Oh and Dark Elfs - worship the Chaos god Khorne; the blood god,  and have a sadistic twist to high elf magic.

Orcs, - waaa magic from gork and mork (not the nanoo nanoo guy)- head exploding stuff ;) literally !

Dwarfs - runemagic, not magic in itself i'm afraid... no dwarf wizards at all, ever.

once you play it, i hope you'll also become enthralled in the history.. some of the stories (like how the skaven came into existence) are just genius and well written, some of the novels have me hooked just now.

Plus the actual tabletop game is quite fun. Not as much fun as Warhammer 40K though.

I think for once every class will have it's individual moments... and if they don't.. ack.. not going to stop me playing every one of them ;)

It's kind of interesting how the Healing Classes always are amongst the top played classes in these Polls here, if this translated into the Game, it would lead to quite the new Population-Ratio...

But I guess in-game it'll be the classical situation, DPS first, then a bit more Tanks than Healers.

WP for me, though I'll be Runepriest if I play Order someday. Basically always the Healer.

    burny burny burn burn.

    cos.. Frying things is fun.

Though most of the time, I shall be much  greener I think. Because orcs are awesome.

My virtual sword of ultimate death and rending is better than *your* virtual sword of ultimate death and rending, because *mine* goes with my armour, okay?

The only thing that turns me off about Witch Hunters is how insanely popular they're going to be. Probably going to be as bad as the Hunter population in WoW.

the Knights look neat though. I'd like to see more on how mounted combat is going to work.

I will most likely choose to play a Knight of the blazing sun. Though I am tempted to try out a witch hunter ( as most of the community are xD).

Lets hope we get some more info about ´em soon!

hmm, the citidel models themselves weren't well liked compared to the more famous Reiksguard, Knights Panther and the awesome Knights of the White Wolf.

Even in the last 3 Empire books, not much has actually been spoken about the Knights of the Blazing Sun:

"A relatively small order, the Knights of the Blazing Sun are also known as the Templars of Myrmidia because of their devotion to the Estalian warrior deity Myrmidia. Largely unknown in the lands of the Empire, it was only through the strangest of chances that the Order’s worship of her began at all.

During the wars against Araby some of the Empire's knights helped to recapture the Temple of Myrmidia in magritta in 1457 IC, the southern sea port of Estalia. This was part of the crusades which eventually freed the land of Estalia from the Arabian invaders. The battle was a great victory for the Knights of the Old World, made all the remarkable by a strange and prophetic occurrence. During the fierce street fighting around the temple of Myrmidia, a group of knights found themselves surrounded by the dreaded Black Scimitar Guard led by Emir Wasr the Cruel. Just as the Arabians closed in a sudden earth tremor shook the temple, dislodging a huge bronze statue of Myrmidia riding a pegasus which was fixed on its topmost steeple. The statue plummeted to the ground below, smashing into a thousand fragments and crushing the Emir and his troops. This event was to prove the turning point of the battle. Afterwards, upon returning to Empire, the surviving knights of that battle established the Order of the Blazing Sun with Myrmidia as its patron and protector and built a shrine to Myrmidia in Talabheim."

The US site basically gives the same info:

    http://us.games-workshop.com/games/warhammer/empire/painting/knights/gallery/blazingsun.htm

the other orders mentioned there, are known as the "minor orders" when compared to the other 4. Think there's 11 Minor ones altogether.

Now, i wonder if they'll be a blood bowl Mini-game arena... i wanna meet Griff Oberwald or Fungus the Loon!

It is a bit sad that an army list as huge and varied as the Empire is being cut down to a mere 4 choices...and not even representative choices at that.  I thought the KotBS choice an odd one.  In the Greenskins there is a sense of community as they all worhip Gork or Mork or both.  Since Chaos are all coming from one god there is solidarity there.  Dwarves and Elves have highbound communities, no problem there either.  But Empire?  Well they stepped out with the KotBS dinnit they?

The KotBS do not worship Sigmar.  Odd men out, so to speak.  Still, a good tank choice on Mythic's part.

But let's look at my potential faves, the Witch Hunters.  Ahhhhh, Witch Hunters, those ultra devout, overly zealous Templars of Sigmar.  I feel, and maybe I'm just being a Lorefiend here, that many of the people that choose Witch Hunter are doing so for the combat profile.  The old DPS thing.

    No no.  Not good.

Being a Witch Hunter is all about mentality.  It's all about being a self-righteous arsehole driven by a zeal that overcomes any sense of logic, fair play, or concern for individual human life.  It's the dark side of the Cult of Sigmar, really.  The dichotomy one must hold in one's head that says "I am truly righteous but must use the sneaky tools of the enemy to undo him and thus root out all Chaos."  They're all mad, I tell you.  But I've loved them since day one.  If any of you cats are old enough to remember the old Warhammer Quest Tabletop game, you might remember the Witch Hunter model.  Now that was a class.  Sabre, pistol, holy amulets, and a bag of dirty tricks with the willingness to use them.  None of that high and noble questing for chivalric crap.  None of that get-as-much-loot-as-possible crap either.  Just the desire to enter the darkest, dankest, nastiest dungeons on the off chance that some Skaven or Greenskin vileness was present to feel the righteous fury of Sigmar in the form of bullet, blade and fire....whoa, think I drooled a bit there.

I don't want to see a ton of Witch Hunters running about.  Much like the classic DnD paladin (but not near as soppy) they should be 1 to 100 or even 1000 in the army list.  I'm not suggesting that they are highly trained commandos or anything, just that their point of view is skewed in such a way as to make the lifestyle unattractive to the average person.  Their skills, on the other hand, are very attractive.  And their hats.  Who wouldn't want one of those hats?

This situation calls for a judicious application of elemental psychology and extreme violence
