My brother and his fiance play WoW and UO. My best friend and his girlfriend play WoW and CoH. Sometimes, I shave my balls, put on a dress, and play Hello Kitty Island Adventures. But the other two are real women.
It was more like a build-up of ways they were babying ferals and not even making Balance Druid leather gear, they lied about fixing Lifebloom, Tailoring was far better than Leatherwoking gear , etc etc.
They can't seem to get class balances right, I gave up on them. Another year of explaining to everyone why I was rolling on cloth just wasn't going to cut it anymore. What kind of masochist plays to explain their worth at every turn. Lvling a Warlock was an option but first was Druid, so that's where my interest was and Warlocks just play so easy.
Well I cant speak for all servers or all guilds or all games... But I been in a few games.. and a few guilds
Currently we have a few in our guild. a couple wives that are as fanataic gamers as there husbands, a few girlfriends like that , and a few that are just straight up gammer girls that play for the sake of playing (which is by far the most common girl gammer)
Its alot more common and greater number then most guys will ever realize. I think a big part is guys dont want to think taht there are girls arround that see how dumb they act and talk. or the fact that maybe they just told a really bad joke to a girl.
A) you most likly will not even know she is a girl unless your guild uses vent.
Girls dont have to "be girly" to play a game, they can be as aggressive and rude as any guy!

Oh and for AS common as it is for a Guy to play a girl toon, Id say as many or more girl gammers play guy toons to avoid being found out as a girl so she can enjoy the game without harassment or being treated different cause of gender.

Well a lot have people have said who they know that play, and then there is that one moron, that keeps insiting that GIRLS DON"T PLAY! Which to me either means that person is tring to be iratating, is really a girl, or is truely a moron.
Look I am a girl myself, and I have a WoW account as well, it is not active right now, but that has less to do with my gender and more to do with my ADD. I don't care if people find out I am one, I usually don't have conversations with strangers anyways, and if I do get to that point in the conversation, I already feel that that person isn't going to hound on me about it.
Besides me: my aunt, my boyfriends mom, her friend, and that friends daughter, they all have WoW accounts, "her friend" is a highly active player, who has more then one max level character (yes she has BC) on more then one server.
When I first started playing games, not MMO or RPG's, just concile games, I knew then that girls didn't really play games. It was actally once I got into WoW that I realized that it's not like that so much anymore. Yes there is a majority of male gamers, but I think there is a growing amount of female ones. I could be wrong. though.
And yes I know, there are guys who play female characters for a number of reason, some understandable, some just disturbing: RPGing reasons, in game cybering, the view, and so forth, I am just too tired to think of many right now.

So the next time some guy character comes on to your guy character it just might my goofy daughter trying to get your goat and make you uncomfortable to give herself an edge against you in PVP LOL

Ok, that was a figure of speech. I appreciate looking at the female form more than a guys form when I play. I have all the guys parts myself. When I get in the shower I see me all the time and know what the parts look like (and i'm not saying I don't know what female parts look like, just that I would rather look at them over male parts). Its just more enjoyable to look at the female form for me, its a personal choice. I mean its not just staring at the butt of my character, but if I do have to look at something for a long period of time, I would just rather it be something more pleasing to my eyes, then the lumpy hairy male form. I mean, I guess thats the same reason I can't seem to bring myself to play an undead female or a tauren female, they just aren't pleasant to my eyes (and i'm sure there are people out there that do find them pleasant to look at all the time). LOL, but like i was saying, if I want to see that, I just look in the mirror and BAM there is that hairy guy looking back at me. I see that all the time.

I wasn't saying I just know what the butt of my character looks like, I remember the hair styles and color, the skin color, the armor they wear, but I mean there is also a big difference between the body of a night elf, blood elf and female orc, and from playing them, I could tell you the differences and relate them to real life people (but I also was trained to notice those kind of things coming up in an art school background). So it just comes down to a personal choice to make them look the way I like. Ok, with that said, back to your regularly scheduled topic.....

I bet out of all the MMO's out there, I bet WoW has the highest percentage of female players. Its a very easy to get into game that once people try it, men, women, or kids, you can just run with it and its pretty fun from the begining. I mean when I played EQ II we had this same discussion, but most of the female players there were older married women. I mean in speaking with my daughter, shes told me that a lot of her friends play, male and female, but most of her friends are young females between the ages of 18-25. I don't think most of them want people to know they are girls, because they don't want to be treated any different. Like someone else said, they don't want a date, or to be hit on, or just plain hasseled because they are female. So who knows, maybe your best buddy in the game is actually a girl? I wonder if more people thought they were actually playing with a female player would be more polite or treat them differently? I kind of doubt it, i've talked to a lot of rude kids,who were misbehaiving, that I don't think really understand the concept that on the other end of the computer there are real people sitting at the keyboard that get upset, angry or have thier feelings hurt. I mean most of the ones i've personally tried to steer in the right direction certainly wouldn't use the kind of language they use when around thier parents.

Now see, thats a whole different set of problems. I'm sure there are plenty of them online, I think 9 is way to young to play this game (unsupervised). I mean my son didn't play any MMO's till he was 12 and at that point he only played when I played and we always grouped, so I could teach him how to behaive and also to avoid people that try to get to personal. I've personally witnessed him putting people on the ignore list that asked him to many personal questions, to which he always answers, "I don't give that information to people I don't, sorry". Too many parents just buy video games for their kids without actually watching or playing with their kids to see whats going on, BIG MISTAKE. I mean my sons PC was always in common areas of the house, dining room, living room, etc. He now actually prefers to keep it in those areas, he doesn't want it in his room. Its also a BIG MISTAKE to put your kids PC's in their bedrooms or private areas if they are under 18, too much trouble to get into by allowing them to have a PC in their room. Now see, thats a whole different set of problems. I'm sure there are plenty of them online, I think 9 is way to young to play this game (unsupervised). I mean my son didn't play any MMO's till he was 12 and at that point he only played when I played and we always grouped, so I could teach him how to behaive and also to avoid people that try to get to personal. I've personally witnessed him putting people on the ignore list that asked him to many personal questions, to which he always answers, "I don't give that information to people I don't, sorry". Too many parents just buy video games for their kids without actually watching or playing with their kids to see whats going on, BIG MISTAKE. I mean my sons PC was always in common areas of the house, dining room, living room, etc. He now actually prefers to keep it in those areas, he doesn't want it in his room. Its also a BIG MISTAKE to put your kids PC's in their bedrooms or private areas if they are under 18, too much trouble to get into by allowing them to have a PC in their room. sorry for derailing the topic, but I wanted to answer the question honestly. I wasn't saying I just know what the butt of my character looks like, I remember the hair styles and color, the skin color, the armor they wear, but I mean there is also a big difference between the body of a night elf, blood elf and female orc, and from playing them, I could tell you the differences and relate them to real life people

Yeah, honestly, that is the truth. I mean I thought it was getting better, but it appears that some guys still think that either girls don't play game, they only play "girly games" or they just never get very good.

Ok guess i'm just lucky then, besides my adult daughters that play, I have met two other female players that I played with for a LONG time. Oh and "Getting Laid" wasn't even a thought, they are friends and if you're immature enough that you think that, you have more problems then we do. So now I guess we've moved into the troll portion of thread lol. Knew it was coming sooner or later.
Of course girls play. I'm a girl, and every weekend my husband and I have our friends over to game. (4 females, 1 male)
