I wrote this because I (just like everyone else) am anxiously awaiting a spot in the beta. This isn't a whine or flame, just something for fun. Enjoy!

Ode to the Warhammer Beta

There's nary a gamer

Who's surfing the net,

And hasn't checked up

On their WAR Beta status yet.

Thousands of people,

All fixed on their screen,

Just waiting to see "Accepted"

Written in green.

We're all waiting alertly,

And some are quite sour.

Checking their email

At least twice every hour.

And those lucky few,

Who've had the pleasure to play,

Have their comments restricted

By that damned NDA!

So here we all sit,

Everyone hoping to score,

And just get a shot

At the Beta of WAR.

Greenskins and Dwarves,

or Dark Elves and High.

The conflicts go on

And pile up to the sky.

There's so many choices

Of classes and races,

All of them designed

To routinely smash faces.

PvP, RvR,

That's the name of the game!

A bloody fun way

To earn trophies and fame.

And yet even more,

Like the new public quest.

And collision detection in battle;

The best!

And the cherry on top?

Can you imagine our glee?

Because the team behind WAR

Is from DAoC!

We've watched all the movies

And seen all the screens.

Every single podacast,

Including Paul's orc routine.

Only one thing

Could inspire this ode.

The thing we all want:

A beta download.

'Cause we've chosen our race

And picked our career.

We've gotten the newsletter

Every month for a year.

We've followed development

From alpha and before.

And now we're all ready

To begin playing WAR.

Our headphones are on,

Our machines are all humming.

And all that runs through our head is one phrase:

WAR is coming!
