I don't blame turbine for what they did to DDO. It just upsets me that there was a great idea in the form of persistent worlds in NWN one and two, but for some reason they decided to go in a totally another direction. But how awesome would it be if they made NWN online?
Comments
After they totally screwed up NWN 2 toolset, I will never buy from them again.

WoW and fast food = commercial successes.
I neither play WoW nor eat fast food.
Blame obsidian for that and for kotor2...
I would play NWN Online, just because I absolutely love Forgotten Realms and would have to give it a try.
I don't think toolset was THAT bad. It was very complex, but it's a very complex game also. I am not sure about Kotor 2. I think that game was awesomesauce.
What did they do wrong with the toolset? I never bought 2 (which seems like a smart choice considering the bad rep it has.)
While I'd love them to use NWN and the Forgotten Realms as a MMO backdrop I'd prefer they run the clock back to before most of the major players became major players in the realms. Or a slightly altered version where istead of having people like Khelben or Elminster who always seem to have the inside scoop, leave it to the players to become the real heroes in the world.
In case you weren't aware, nwn is multiplayer online.
There are a few groups who have created persistent NWN worlds. For 20 bucks, you can snag the NWN diamond edition which has the original game, both expansions as well as some of the bioware custom content, then check it out. It's really a great a value just for the single player campaigns alone.

Oh, my God!You will not believe this! EVERYTHING that worked in the old toolset in NWN 1 ---> removed.
The NWN 2 is so terrible that even from creating characters --remember how easy and fun that was, you could make your own guards, named characters, etc.-- was removed! You cannot even lay the proper tiles for an area! It is so like backward and not user-friendly.
It is bad in every way possible. You cannot create items like you used to be able to. You cannot even create areas like before. Objects. Characters. Everything. Environmental sucks. It is just awful.

Not everyone can be a hero, thats why people like Khelben and Elminster existed in that game. They cant be everywhere at once, so they showed people the right direction, thats where the players could come in. Man Forgotten Realms Online would so rock, I cant believe it hasnt been developed yet. I really hope some crap company like Webzen doesnt pick it up.

This makes neschria sad.
I do own the Diamond edition of NWN, but not NWN2. I have really enjoyed using the toolset and downloading things other people have made (tilesets, objects) to use in putting together my own world. I had heard that NWN2 was bad, but not in what specific ways. Ah, well. That's one to cross off my wish list, then.

This is where I draw the line: __________________.
That's what they did with KOTOR. They set it so far ahead of what most normal StarWars players are familiar with. That it gave them alot of breathing room to be creative. If they did a NWN Online in Forgotten Realms like that. I would play in a heart beat. Though I can't agree with the idea of everyone being heroes. Like the above poster said. Not everyone can be a hero.
In War - Victory.
In Peace - Vigilance.
In Death - Sacrifice.
