in Pirates of the Caribbean Online
this game is pretty much pointless........do they really thing theyre gona get subs when PotBS comes out (w/in the next few months)

    Yes I LOL at this title release when I seen it and quite frankly I think it is more towards the younger audience. Also im gona go out on a limb here and say that there will be 1000's of name variations of Jack Sparrow and the likes of other characters from the movie. Really annoying.

    LOL id do think we will see that but no this wont be a young mans MMO it has alot more to offer then just a buttn mashing I PAWNED U NOOB game  but we will see alot of will turnners and captain jacks

    Disney is famous for rushing steaming piles of crap out the door in the interest of riding the hype of a movie a game is based upon (don't most publishers of games based on movies). Anyone here remember way back, the first movie, and the game that launched with it, "Pirates of the Caribbean" developed by Akella and published by Bethesda. The game was originally going to be Sea Dogs II, a sequal to a successful pirate mmo done before by these companies. Once the deal was made to change the name and launch with the movie, assets got cut, game got crunched and QA sufferred.



    The result, the game launched right on time with the movie...and have more bugs then your average fire ant mound. There were whole conversations with NPC's that just ended amid topic, because they didn't have time to finished that particular aspect of the game up.



    That said, i KNOW there are pushing this sucker to meet with the hype of PotC3:aWE (fun movie, btw), the art I've seen lookes like that of a rushed title. their ships look just god awefully inaccurate. It is not even on the same page with PotBS as far as quality goes, but then PotBS has been in development for over 5 years.  PotCO not even close to that long.





    PotBS HAS to be a great title, because it's got to stand on its own. while it can perhaps garnish some of the pirate fanboyism that the movies generate, the movies do not directly translate tot he title. PotCO is simply going to be another disney ant farm that seeks to trade the fame and good name of a great movie for cash from gamers who asume the game will be created with the same love and craft as the movies.



    To kind of make a point, i remember a thread on here somewhere, were a 24 year old teenie bopper chick (talk about a contradiction there)said that PotC was gonna be better then PotBS simple because it had Johnny Depp. Her opinion of the game has no basis in the gameplay or Quality of the title. I' certain a lot of people will buy this game for similar reasons...they liked the movies.  To this girl I say,stay away from the game and just buy the movie. Don't get duped into a rushed game because it will have a blocky, low-res version of Jack Sparrow, when you can watch the real thing, over and over, until you puke. The movie's will be cheaper too.

    HAHA im no WoW fanboy anymore but I do belive it would take a pretty epic game to take down the giant known as WoW. I belive that a game needs more then good graphics to be a hit and WoW proved that. Dont count POTCO out because it used cartooy graphics. Lets hope that both pirate games are a success.

    I'd just like to say there is no posible way that you can not have a name like Jack Sparrow123, ect. because: you can choose from some preset names, or apply for a name. neither of which will allow you to be Jack Sparrowwannabe.

    I think you missed the point of this game, it is being targeted at kids, not adults.  Although I do not see why anyone would let their child play a MMO unsupervised.   So my kids and I will not be playing this one, this one is beyond hoaky.

    there wont be 1000 variations of Jack Sparrow because people can have any name they want, even the same name as someone else! This game is actually pretty fun and you should play it before you judge it.

    This game is targeted at people ages 10- 16, and has things for any type of gamer. Disney, i think, has actually put some time to make this a good game. Its fun.what is wrong with kids playing MMOs? Im 13 and i play MMOs non-stop. Played potco 16 hours last Sunday. Let your kids play POTCO, the chat is HEAVILY cencored so you dont have to worry about bad language, and if anyone makes a crack sexual comment, you could basically watch them be banned in a few minutes. Hey, its Disney.
