Waiting for Warhammer 40,000

While this game looks good and will be one that I would consider participating in over World of Warcraft, I am much more interested in the eventual Warhammer 40,000 release.

Not sure about this... i can't see an imperial guardsman going up against a space marine (chaos - imperium doesn't matter) with a chance of winning at all.

*scratches head* i'm curious to how they'll even go about it..... prefer the tabletop game to Warhammers, but thats preference. (or it could be i have a Tau, Imperial Guard and Eldar army)

Personally I don't understand how people get so interested in a game that has basically no conceptual details released.  It might be great, but I know zero about it and that doesn't perk my interest whatsoever.

Warhammer 40k, I must admit, looks pretty cool, and i think i heard in a video somewhere that after WAR has become a success they will begin development on Warhammer 40k, but i'm not quite sure how this is going to work... Is it gonna be like a sci-fi MMORPG type of game. Just seems strange cuz i know Warhammer 40k consists of futuristic themes with lasers and robots and explosions. But then again i basically know nothing about it yet. It'll probably kick ass either way.

I never quite understood these kind of people. Come to a different games forum and tell people your ordering another game..

    Makes absolutely zero sense.

When WAR was first rumored ... i was like omg yes warhammer 40k mmo omg think about it ... it would be crazy i mean war 40k is crazy.

WAR epic is ok also but for lore you can not beat 40k and i think mythic messed up here. (I can understand a reason for the epic over 40k , see 40k almost everythign ranges there are hero units that are melee so maybe that would work... but for Epic is more suited for a melee v range v magic. )

The fact of lore is important but WAR is looking good becuase it is looking good i could not care if it was Epic or 40k if its good and WAR is looking good.

So wait. Your going to wait for 1 year or upwards to 2? Why not just play WAR or another mmo until then. Its like saying I'll wait  until Hd-dvd and blu-ray comes out" just before dvd was released.

not to mention its done by another company not Mythic and scheduled to release 4 yrs from now so good luck with that.

I think the real question here is will you be able to play Squats?

i think its a bad move honestly. Unless it doesnt come out for 3 or 4 years after WAR. Splitting communities and such. Heh, still. I wish they had picked 40k instead of Fantasy first.

Oh ,and its already in development btw. THQ is making it i think.

I agree.... 40K is simply a dream right now, may never come out, whereas WAR Online is going to be here early next year for sure.

well they are both warhammer franchises so it makes alot of sense talking about warhammer 40k..games workshop owns both games...alot people here are fans of the warhammer/40k world not just the video games mate.

Don't mean to burst your bubble but Mythic will not be working on the WH40K mmo after they release WAR.  A few months ago THQ announced that they renewed their exclusive computer game licensing rights to the WH40K universe with Games Workshop and that development of a WH40K mmo was underway.  This makes perfect sense since Relic, a THQ developer, is not only working on a sequel to Dawn of War but is also rumored to be working on a rpg that takes place in the WH40K universe.

Vigil Games, a new developer owned by THQ (created by a famous comic book artist and mmo veterans) was given the green light by THQ and Games Workshop to develop a WH40K mmo.  Personally I was hoping Relic would be the developer, their RTS titles are top notch; they did a spectacular job with the Dawn of War games and perfectly captured the look, feel and flavor of the WH40K universe (I can't wait for DoW2).  My thinking was If Blizzard could successfully branch out from RTS into the MMO genre why not Relic?

Anyway let's hope... no pray the WH40K mmo developer takes a page from Mythic's MMO book and puts the emphasis on RvR style faction based warfare with minimal PvE and grinding.

Mods, isn't it time you created a forum exclusively for the WH40K mmo?  It may be a tad premature but given the insane popularity of the WH40K property I don't think the forum it would be lacking in activity.

How could you make the Warhammer franchise not PvP oriented is my question. I couldn't imagine anyone making Warhammer 40k online being a carebare fest, just can't see it.

Yeah, you'll be waiting 3+ years for this game since it was just announced a couple months back. There is nothing at all known about it beyond what IP it is based on and who is developing it.
