DAoC Free Trial Question!

OracleP4OracleP4 Member Posts: 495

To use the free 7 day trial of DAoC do you still need to put in a credit card number? Or can you just play without and then put in a credit card number later if you decide you want to subscribe. I know for SWG you could try to the trial without having to put in a credit card number but maybe for this you do...

If someone knows could they let me know! Thanks!

I'd almost swear that I remember reading or hearing that you did NOT need a CC number, but with that being said, I'd be shocked if DAoC (like everyone else out there) wouldn't require you to insert it to show that you could at least pay for the game later...

My guess is plan on inserting your Debit/CC number in when you create your account as all DAoC account creations require the use of a CC Number to complete the account creation process.

If you've never played DAoC - I highly suggest it!!!  I've got multiple 50s and have loved it!

Aye... You will need to enter your CC number... image It will NOT get charged untill the fre trial period is over. Also if you press cancel account in the billing options (which in fact doesnt cancel your account but cancels your billing, you will still be able to play for as long as your account is paid for or has free credits for).

So after downloading the trial version you dont have to pay for a copy of the game just a monthly subscription?

What about all the expansion packs?  Can they be downloaded or do they have to be bought?

I cannot speak authoritatively on whether or not the "Trial" download version of the game will allow you to continue to play the game by only paying the monthly fee or not.

The Expansions, however; do require a purchase.  And since the best route out now is to buy the: "Dark Age of Camelot: Platinum Edition"  for 29.99 at CompUSA  It won't be a big deal.

    The Platinum Edition comes with

Dark Age of Camelote (Classic Full Edition of the trial version)
    Shrouded Isles (Expansion #1)
    Foundations (Housing Expansion)
    Trials of Atlantis (Expansion #2)

If you like the game, I'd go with the Platinum Edition - it seems very complete... and much easier to install than each version alone.

Also - I don't think the expansions will install into the downloaded "Trial" edition - but I could be wrong.

Sorry, but the program for the Dark Age of Camelot Trial is currently full.

We may, however, have other openings come up in the near future. Your e-mail, |email| has been logged and you've been placed on the waiting list. Once another slot opens up, we'll e-mail you.

Wow, that's gay... Not much of a free trial if you CAN'T EVEN GET ON THE SERVERS.

I can confirm that you can indefentily play on the trial version if you start paying your monthly fees.

Ok, so FINALLY i get the free trial working. I run the updates and then i get a "this program is not responding".  Jeeze, i wonder how many days it will take until i can actually play the game.

Ok now the update actually runs. Now what happens? I get an "Error 303" when trying to download patches.

I don't think there has been a step where it hasn't screwed up.

You're having a case of bad timing Rathma. They just had a major update, so be patient and keep trying. You'll get in eventually.

If you download the game, you get 7 free days and that's it.  You have to go buy the expansions or the Platinum Edition for $29.99 (which also includes New Frontiers I think) and you won't get your free month's play if you link it to your trial account because it's already marked as trial expired.

So, if you're really only interested in trying the game out and don't intend on continuing to play, do the download 7 day trial.  If, however, you're reasonably sure you want to stay with the game for awhile, then go for the Platinum Edition and get your month's free play.
