Banning games, or anything in general, is just stupid. Let people do what they want as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else.
Completely agree with you, I am so happy almost nothing gets banned here in Scandinavia (don't know about Denmark though), why should the government be allowed to tell us what we can and can't do? Still pretty annoyed that marijuana is illegal here in Norway
You still have your ridiculously expensive alcohol though :P
It is a simple question of responsability, parents should start educating their kids, i for sure won't give my son any game similar to manhunt.
But it isn't as simple as that, cause most parents don't give a funk! And then it becomes a concern for the next generation, the youth. The youth has a right to a correct moral upbringing, even if their parents fail to give them one, and this is where responsability is passed on to government, rightfully so.
I say ban manhunt and all games like that.
Heck! I rather I find my kids watching porn than enjoying manhunt, I would be a bit worried if they liked the latter considerably more.
this game WILL NOT!!!!! i doubt it'll even get rated 18.
its like saying pocahontas will get banned because hostel did. now you've put false information into many people brains from a senceless assumption, well done

To ban a MMO would be extremly difficult to implement. Well the banning is easy, to stop people playing it is not. Unless you are sitting behind the great firewall of China that is. I imagine the same for Manhunt.

The game was shooting for a mature rating, but the english censors deemed the game so gruell that it was not fit for the general public. So they refused to give it any age rating which means the game can not be released in the UK.
Lets hope that our Conan developers will not change anything to this games setting.
Violent games in general are on the edge of being banned.
Banning a game only makes it more popular. There are too many ways, given the internat, that people in any country can obtain any game of any language it was released in. This is not something people will ever allow to be changed. You can try to make it illegal all you want, but the more you push the more people will want it.
I loved Manhunt and thanks to this (to me) new information about the second game being banned in the UK pretty much made me all warm inside and I can't wait to play it!
I veru much doubt Age of Conan will be banned though.

Sounds like the government from V for Vendetta is on it's way in.
Intresting to note that compared to the US countries views on sex and violence are pratically oppisite. In the US little timmy cant be allowed to see a nipple, but someones head flying off? sure! Other countries have it right, sex is natural and violence isnt. Still, i hope for the sake of the games health AoC isnt banned (although i doubt it will be, anyone whos played Manhunt knows that game goes a little too far)6
I agree, and believe its because the US is a country born out of revolution and violence. That philosphy has trickled down through the ages making us one of the most violent countries. If we had been a country born out of sex, maybe little Timmy could see nipples. BTW if anyone knows of a country born out fo sex, please post, because I'd like to move there.......

Did you even read what the BBFC statement was, and exactly why it was banned, there were more reasons given then there mere cruelty and abusive nature of the game, which included the previous companies games in the market.
As always the american public hear something then stamp their feet as if they know everything about it.
*shakes head* Violent games in general are not on the edge of being banned (well i can't speak for Germany, they really hate any gore or blood in their games.
The BBFC is not Jack Thompson or anywhere close to his idoticity, come on.. the Hot Coffee thing hardly even touched british papers, apart from making fun of the american sanctimonious attitude.
Seriously go read what the BBFC itself wrote, and what their exact statement was, rather than snipets on articles written by half-assed journalists trying to provoke the gaming community.
The fact non of this was touched by Penny Arcade, Ctrl+Alt+Del, should have given enough indication on the matter.
They banned Gears of War from germany too (im not from germany) and that didn't do anything for the players.....people there just import the game...lol simple as that....what
Just import from the closest country -.-
Unless...if the subscriptions are based on the IP (which i doubt it...) or something....that would be shitty for the british =P
Well......in my country there are no such things as censure or banned games XD lol
Ermm...... They banned Gears of War from germany too (im not from germany) and that didn't do anything for the players.....people there just import the game...lol simple as that....what
In Germany though video games have to go along with their Laws, and the germans actually have laws against these types of games. The UK doesn't (we do follow guidelines though), the BBFC hasn't banned a game in the past 10 years, that should tell you enough. But really read the BBFC statement.
As for sex related well Fahrenheit (known as Indigo Prophecy to the yanks and canadians) the BBFC rated it a 15 certificate even if you could see the black guys girlfriend naked in the shower, and one of the mini-games involved making the redheaded ex-girlfriend orgasm in bed.... you had to tap the right thumbstick forward at the right time. The game itself, well in the first part you had to learn how to cover up your own murder lol
so.... don't even go there, sex and nudity in-game are fine in the UK
Violent games are fine too, as "The Darkness" clearly shows (was released on the 29th)... o0o... gotta love ripping out people's hearts to feed one of the darkness powers.... gritty

Deplorable you are very ignorant.
No, i read the BBFC statement fully, and most other gaming sites.
Turns out one of the fundamental things was, that BBFC could have given it an 18 certificate but based on previous knowledge of the company and its games, it felt the parents would either buy it for their 6+ year old child, or the game would find it's way into their hands.
The BBFC felt that, the company and developer had overstretched its bounds at this point.
You are ignorant because you didn't read the statement did you? ignorance = lack of knowledge.
So until you can actually come up with something good, then.. go away and stop adding stuff to something, you clearly, know nothing about
The ERSB effectively banned Manhunt 2 JJ lol. They gave it an Adults only rating. Playstation and Nintendo both won't allow for Adults only games to be printed for use on their machines. Manhunt 2 has been shelved. Guess RockStar finally just went to far.
Please Refer to Doom Cat with all conspiracies & evil corporation complaints. He'll give you the simple explination of..WE"RE ALL DOOMED!

I remember reading that, now nintendo and playstation coming out and saying that, i found a bit weird.
The game will just get cut a little, and changed slightly... and released in both countries no problem. It has happened before, and a lot of time it's usually films/movies/dvds.
Deplorable you obviously dont like americans. Well please dont try and generalize us based on a few experiences you have had. I mean you are coming off as a true ignorant person.
I'm still waiting on you actually being "on topic" and saying something constructive maybe with a few statements from various sites, without repeating the word 'ignorant' a dozen times.
you do know what it means right?
*sigh* keep repeating that, because you don't seem to know a thing about this topic.
As for Americans, my Girlfriend is from Seattle WA, born in Olympia (she'll kill me if i got the spelling wrong), she then lived in federal way and briefly in Kent before Seattle. Until i convinced her to study over here, she was finding it hard finding a college she wanted to go too.
although she still makes me listen to the Jackie and Bender show, if she's here in the afternoon.
Me, i've been to puerto rico (mostly san juan and bayamon), duluth, st. paul, seattle, newark, new york, chicago... all in the name of work, oh and my gf loves to travel. i love americans, but i also know.. you come off as pretty one sided when you don't know anything about the UK or various related topics.

Absolutly nothing like Age of Conan. Annimations totally different.
