IF WoW dies to these next gen mmos, it will be great for blizz fans

Ok blizzards first mmorpg was great, it reached major success, tons of fun even though it did have its flaws and in the long run it does tend to get tedious, but! Do you guys really think this is blizzards last MMO? If WoW does die, and with warhammer, AoC and the rest comming out, blizzards next mmorpg is going to be fierce.

I don't know if it will be the last WoW MMORPG.  I wish they would attempt a Sci-Fi MMORPG.  I have yet to play a Sci-Fi game that is fun for me.

Do yourself a huge favor, pick up SWG.  Try it.  It is 20 bucks, you should get a free month.  I love it!

No MMO out there offers what SWG offers in terms of customization, breath, the world, the sounds, the features.  It is not a game; it is a true world in every sense of the word.

Look at the games before WoW.  Everyone thought WoW and EQ2 were going to be the next generation - completely revolutionizing MMOs.  And it wasn't really that much of a step forward.  Some would say, in some cases – a few steps back.

Lets face it, the better the graphics get the more limiting the game becomes.  So I don't think this “next generation” is going to revolutionize anything.  WoW will still be a major player.  And people are still going to be unhappy.

Sorry to break it to you.

You may do what I am doing to do which is put my dreams of a great MMO on hold for a while, and:

    1. Play HG:L when it comes out.

    2. Make my own MMO.

Actually only EQ2 tried to claim to be revoltuionary.  Blizzard always said they just wanted to make a game that was fun, and built around the Warcraft lore that their fans loved.

    In War - Victory.
    In Peace - Vigilance.
    In Death - Sacrifice.

Well many companies will try and make there image attractive so they can be trusted to do certain to make there games fun and to cover up anything they might actually be doing behind the scenes we just dont know for sure.

Most MMORPGs do have a horrible elitist community yes, but only a few are as bad or worse in this respect than WOW. Now, to be fair, with the sheer number of subscribers Warcraft has, the level of... immaturity is likely magnified many times over as compared to what it might have been with a smaller subscriber base. There are multiple MMORPGs with a highly mature and nonelitist playerbase, most of them are small niche games you may or may not have even heard of.

Question: How can an MMO have an elitist community when it controls 70-80% of the market, and thus the majority?

You can't be elite if you're part of the majority.

I agree unless there is some secret game out there that nobody knows about.

WOW - like any MMO - will gradually lose players. But it will be a slow attrition with occasional spikes like when AoC releases.

But I am betting that 2 years from now that WOW still has 2-3 million subs. So it will not die for a while, but it will certainly gradually lose popularity as new games come out or people just get tired of it and move on to established older but good games like DAOC and EQ2.

I think that is something like 84% of all players are above average....

    1 word DIABLO

blizzard has 3 games, warcraft....diablo.....starcraft. They stated that they only make the best of quality at what they do and that they will allways improve on them. The next one in line is diablo, sc2 is on the way. I expect a diablo mmorpg in maybe 4-6 years.

call me krazy, but i'd bet money on it.

    Agreed...

I believe the next MMO we'll see from Blizz is Diablo ()

Which is the IP I prefer to WC... infact I rank Diablo and SC above WC but w/e they're all cool.

SC2 will be out for awhile... 1-2 years and I think around then they'll announce a Diablo MMO

Why would Blizzard make a new mmorpg when they already have the best in the world. No AOC and WAR will not even put a dent in the subscribers. Most  people have no interest in playing a game with no stealth, i.e. 1/3 of the mmorpg communitiy that plays rogues and scouts, and aoc won't appeal to the players who play WOW. Besides wow will run for years on new computers and old computers alike and most people will not be buying new computers until they graduate from college and can buy them on their own. Do you think everyone has a g or two to dish out every 5 yeras ona  computer? I do...but 99 percent don't. Besides WOW is so polished that they can add features endlessly to it where as AOC and WAR will have to go through a 2 year period or patching before they can reach that level. And as for the elitist community, well yoru part of a world that systmaticly persoctues people so what do you expect.

I've heard a lot about the upcoming Diablo III game coming out, how much of it is true is anyone's guess.

I heard that it was mostly finished, but they decided to re-do all the artwork after hiring a lot more people to work on it.

Also, the name "Dungeons of Diablo" has already been Copyrighted, which may mean an upcoming MMO.

Whether that MMO is Diablo III or not, who knows. Although I doubt they would wait until a Diablo IV (unless that's their thing, make a bunch of trilogies and end them with MMO's)

I've never played WoW, never caught my interest. But I would definitely play a Diablo MMO.

Here's to hoping it turns out awesome
