But i never understood that purpose of that game and dont unbderstand how it could be multiplayer i mean how does that work what was the true meaning of the orignial game that i didnt understand?
You could explore the locations. The graphics, at the time Myst was first published, were spectacular.
You could figure out how to use clues that were found in the world to unlock access to more worlds. Myst appealed to people who like to solve puzzles.
But even more than a virtual environment with puzzles in it, Myst was a story.
You could read journals to find out some of the history of the places you were exploring, and you gradually found notes and recordings that told you more about what had happened. You even met people who tried to convince you to help them. Eventually, you had to make choices that determined how the story turned out.
So, the purposes were exploration, solving puzzles, and experiencing a story.
This sort of gameplay works very well in an MMO. In some ways, it works better than it did offline because the MMO can keep adding new locations, new things to read and new recordings. And perhaps most importantly, now Uru players can socialize while they experience the game. (Though I did think the sense of loneliness was something that made Myst interesting at the time.)
Yeah I was wondering that myself...i spose that's an interesting idea having Myst as a multiplayer experience.
I haven't played it in a few years but now that I think about it that game was kind of erie from what I remember....I'm just picturing being on an island, alone, finding out all this information about what happened to these people...its like the opening scenario for a horror.
As an example of true cooperative multiplayer action, there are now two Ages available that require X number of people doing certain actions at the appropriate times to make things happen. And these are fairly basic Ages, more complex multiplayer Ages are sure to surface eventually.
If we are to go with the coming-soon screenshots that we have seen, we should be getting Ahonay soon, originally designed to be a fiendish multiplayer puzzle, that should keep us going for many a night.
I am skeptical about this game considering there is no combat and etc, but then again combat is not everything I always prefer storyline and innovation over combat. I guess im spoiled on action games and cannot help it ,I have to be able to do more with my character then run across a bridge and leap off over a ledge or two.
A good example is I loved dreamfall I truly did considering you do more in the game besides point and click and etc.
This is a different sort of play. Inherently non violent with an automatic panic escape route this may sound boring but when you think you try the jump if you miss you go back and try again.
Some of the locations have a depth of field that induces real vertigo in some. and the rewards are not points but articles to customize your avatar and home location (Relto)
When this started as a stand alone version there was not a lot of options in the customization of Relto but now as the on line gathers pace diferences are begining to feed through.
The original areas (Ages) can usually be played alone can be reset and then attempted as a group of varying size.
Players with impaired motor function can be helped to complete an age and you have the option to create multiple avatars 5 per account.
At the moment on the non US/Canada login you can only have one of these logged in at a time But I believe the Game Tap connected accounts can have more than one avatar live at the same time.
Basicaly that would mean a family account option and this is a game where there are family members on at the same time sharing an on line experience.

Uru has a good 3D engine and it supports multiplayer, but it's still Myst's distant relative.
