So after about a year break decided to reactivate my account. Before my break I was training for recon ships. Just wondering if these ship still find a place in gangs and such. Specifically was traning for the lachesis.

Umm... yes... recons are very much used both in gangs and in solo PVP.

Oh yes, the recon ships are some of the best ships for pvp, honestly - after the Vagabond (HAC) for solo ganking is the Curse (Recon). And yes the Gallante ones a very very useful for gang pvp, but you might want an arazu over the lachesis - just a personal observation.
Decisions decisions, Gallante or Minmatar, which one do I want to use the HACs, Recons and CSs of next...

I trained specifically for the Caldari Rook. Recons are good and used in many small roaming gangs, solo PvP (not rook) and decent sized fleet engagements. Very good ships with a lot of different flexibility to them.
Im still a pretty new mimitar player with 8 mil sp but im wondering could someone with real Mimitar PvP experience share with tme there reviews of the various ships mimitar use?
It would be a great help to me.
Minmatar have some of the most fun PVP ships in the game:
Rifter: Yes, a T1 rifter: Easily the BEST T1 frigate in the game. It's fast, maneuverable, packs a solid punch and is easily suited to be a tackler with surprising survivability.
Thrasher: Yes, the T1 Destroyer... this is an AWESOME PVP ship in gangs. Fit it for mid-range sniping off a gate or fit it for (near) instalock mode and sit right on the gate and lock down anyone who jumps in with it. (except shuttles and some interceptors). Anyone who doesn't believe the thrasher is a great ship for small gang or fleet pvp can look here (I recently left this alliance but you can see from my stats that I did very well indeed in a thrasher while training for interdictors): http://www.hydraalliance.org/kb/?a=pilot_detail&plt_id=270&view=ships_weapons
Stabber: Excellent T1 cruiser for PVP. Very fast for it's size and often used as a medium tackler to hold down those peskier targets that will normally chew up a interceptor tackler.
Hurricane: One of the best PVP Battlecruisers in the game. Can be fit for long range, short range, bumpermode and is even a very good ratting ship for 0.0 in some areas.
Typhoon: Probably one of the best "jack of all trades" Battleships in the game.
=============================
T2:
Sabre: Easily the best Interdictor in the game.
Stiletto: The better of the two minmatar interceptors. Sure the Claw is faster. But the Stiletto has 4 midslots which makes it far more useful as a tackler.
Cheetah: My favorite covops ship in the game. It's got 3 lowslots so can move around cloaked very quickly which is very helpful in getting sniper points setup or getting your fleet a 'warp in' on enemy snipers or other fleet positions.
Vagabond: This is the king of kings in fast-paced PVP. They can get upwards of 9k/s speed and are a real pain in the rear even for large fleets. Exellent heavy tacklers and also great solo PVP ships.
Huggin/Rapier: The Vagabond's worst nightmare. These suckers are AWESOME in fleets where their long range tackle abilities are invaluable. Also good for solo PVP due to that same ability to lock down an opponent from longer ranges.
Munin: Awesome fleet PVP HAC. Excellent DPS for it's size and very hard to kill.
Dunno much about the command ships yet. I can't fly them. Can't fly the hac's either but have dealt with them often enough to know their strengths and most of their weaknesses.
