EM Quest System (Read Inside)

gargantroogargantroo Member Posts: 1,477

If you do not play Final Fantasy XI and do not plan on playing it, please do not vote in the poll above. I respect your opinions, but this poll is directed at Final Fantasy XI players only. If you do plan on playing it, then go ahead and vote so that maybe you can experience what I am listing below. If you think these ideas, if in-game, would attract you to Final Fantasy XI, feel free to vote. Thanks.

FFXI becomes repetitive after a couple of weeks. A good pvp system would help (lots) but right now I think its time they have EM quests (like on Ultima Online)

One thing that people desire in an MMORPG is to be a hero, since being a nationally-known hero in real-life is difficult. EM (event moderator quests) would be good in the aspect that now people can finally assume the role of a Final Fantasy type hero. Everyone is an adventurer in this game. Where are the main characters that the adventurers experienced in the old Final Fantasy games? For instance, I bet after Zidane saved Gaia, he was well-known throughout the world. Why cant this be done in Final Fantasy XI? It can, and this is how.

Final Fantasy XI could host event moderator quests with bosses, battles and rare items. The main bad guy (the Shadowlord) could finally appear in the game. Characters will form parties and advance throughout Vana'diel to slay GM controlled, one-time unique monsters on each server. There would be bosses and characters would form parties to get rare, visible items that would be for all levels, all jobs and very rare looking and strong. No one will help you on these quests (Moderator wise). Hints would be given out, like "Go to the La Theine Plains to battle the mysterious beast that holds a piece of the gem of the shadowlord!". Here, players will ban together to fight an EM (person) controlled monster with great strength. After the battle, plot characters, EM controlled, would discuss things that will help you on your next event. Finally, it boils down to the last boss.

The last boss would be the Shadowlord. Of course, you wouldnt want him to die off so soon. After a party of people defeat him, he can flee the battles and the party of people who slayed him can be named heroes. A new patch would involve monuments in each town of the heroes. (when double clicked, the names of acutal players would appear so that people can see their accomplishments. Of course, each server would have a different list of people.

Thanks for reading it image

Oh you mean the EM quests that one percent of the server population attends.

I wouldn't know never attended one.

Or would you mean the lag fests because of those who do attend can't move around?

Or do you mean simply causing the same 3-4 monsters to respawn for over a 24 hour period in the same exact spot. Rgr that EM events are lots of fun. Have attended those and got bored within 20 minutes of killing the same monster with no abatement or sense of purpose.

    *Yawns loudly*

(suggests its a bad idea to compare with UO)

  • I loved GM events in EQ, so I would love to see this happen in FFXI the only problem would be making sure both Americans and Japanese could understand the dialogue.

Um yeah, so I guess that since UO has more people than FFXI, you can safely say that UO has better strongpoints than FFXI, especially since it's been going for 7 years and is still one of the best. By the way, the japanese and english dialogues could be done by one person because dont they have an auto-translate function for English and Japanese players? I think EM quests would get more people in the game, since FFXI is pretty much only a level-grind. Even if 1% of the server attends, well think of all the people on each server, and on most MMORPGs its usually like 10% of the server (that means like 100 people attending, which is actually alot).

    Final Fantasy XI Online- Nabara

Dood, stop lying about UO having more people than FFXI. You sound really bitter and just flat out wrong.

I now know that your a complete hater of FFXI by your second and third statements that are quoted in here and will forever dismiss anything else you say. I just hope every other ready now realizes this as well.

Your opnions that UO has stronger points than FFXI. Be sure to preface your statements with "its my opnion that..." from now on.

Ultima Online has had way more accounts than Final Fantasy XI, and probably still has more than or as many accounts as Final Fantasy XI. I'm not a Final Fantasy XI hater, I just like Ultima Online better because the company knows how to make money and entertain people at the same time. I like Final Fantasy XI, I think the devs need to see what other MMORPGs, popular ones at least, are doing so they can get an idea of what people like. This feels like a 3d version of Ragnarok Online. I dont mean to sound harsh, I just suggested something that might increase the fun of the game. And Ultima Online DOES have more strongpoints. Let me name a few:

    1. It appeals to both PVP and non-PVPers. Why? PVPers can go to Fellucca where it is total anarchy and blast each other to death, while the non-pvpers can safely hunt in Trammel, Ilshenar or Malas.

    2. EM Quests (Read the first post)

    3. Highly customizeable character templates, including clothing dye, different metals to make your weapons out of, and different armor types.

    4. More skills. In fact, almost 70 skills total. Final Fantasy XI hardly has 20.

    5. Easier battle system. It's like Diablo with out the pathfinding element. You can fight on mounts (speaking of mounts, there are like 10 mounts to choose from and they can even be permanent if you bond with them). The battle system is faster paced and you can easily escape a battle.

Thats five points. I thought of some more but I am about to go to bed. I'm not an Final Fantasy XI hater, I'm a player with opinions and, once again, I think the devs need to add more to this game than just a level grind. After level 75, what do you do? There are no battles or anything, and it sure would be nice to see some. Put your skills that you worked so hard to earn up to use. I'm sorry if I sounded like an Final fantasy XI hater. I was just trying to get my opinion across. Maybe an idea.

Well I think that might be a bad idea... Remember the tree event? Lag through the whole server(s)

However you can become a hero in different nations. By getting Rank 10.

Otherwise you can become a hero in your LS, with your friends, or with low lvls

    (º_º)/ nobody loves me... ;_;
