There is an alignment system. Even though you can be a murderer, it will be a hard life. The player community is dead set on policing itself and that those who freely kill others will be shuned and KOS.
I remember in the day when the same was said about Lineage 2. Anyone greifing/ganking or interfering with questing would be banished and hounded as KoS. Now, as alliances have become power hungry meglamaniacs, you have entire clans/guilds made of assassins/PKer's. They are treated as some kind of "anti-hero-hero", HA!, go figure!
Nope, "I'm NOT buyin' that for a dollah." Will be a gank-fest from the beginning and the clan/guild that is organized enough to take control!
I would say this guy is correct about the future of DF, Lineage3...
Except its vaporware...

This game is going to be a hardcore PVPers paradise. First couple of weeks will be insane because there will be so many new people coming in that it will be impossible to keep track of everyone.
the game will be bombarded with retards saying amagod i cant live in the game or do any other this other shit i have come up with but devs have never promised.
Or the game will be laggy as hell, ill go with both.
I think that all the features the have personally mentioned will be in, however its not that thats worrying, they still havnt proven they can implement all of this stuff in a seamless world whilst being playable.
I was just wondering when DarkFall comes out (key word when) what the first few weeks of darkfall gameplay would be like. I was thinking chaotic free for all for the first few weeks till people get tired of kiling or looseing their items they worked so hard to get.
Well, by the time the game actually comes out, our grandchildren will be playing it on a holodeck somewhere..........
I'm almost positive its going to be a bloodbath for a few weeks until some sort of pecking order has been established, and even then im still sure it will be chaos. Not saying thats bad, i am drooling for this game. A pre tram UO with a shiny new coat...Ohhhh yes!
1 Char, maybe a few more going to be allowed in DF. If you create one for just ganking your other chars will take
Alignment hit to. So if you really wanna play an outlaw that will be you only choise.

Originally posted by Rodzilla If Items in this game are hard to come by then there will end up being little to no pvp at all after a few weeks.
I was under the impression that EVERYTHING will be craftable, so the only thing holding you back is your money (which is directly proportionate to how much you die or kill people).
the only i wouldn't rush out a buy this game is becuase it might take a while but there will probly on be two main huge clans/guilds that control the entire world and are not really capable or killing each other so its stalemate for eternity unless a small clan/guild tries to make in the world and gets crushed by one of the bigger clans/guillds but this game is shaping up to be the best game of the decade in 2010 so we will just have to see when it comes out

Of course there will be big clans dominating sometimes but if that happens ill be sure to start a rebellion. Also like the developers said that even a major guild with 50 players might fall against a a small caln who practice formations and seige strategies. (Thank you collision detection)

Well, i don not think so. Why? Quite simple, because there are 6 different races, and withit 3 factions.. of course ARAC will be possible, but not as easy as a normal guild of just one race. Another point is, darkfall is huge, and without instant travel, it will be almost impossible to control the complete world, or you need really a damn huge clan(1000+) and very good organized. DF isnt Shadowbane, in shadowbane it was quite easy to be everywhere with all your clanmates within one second, this is not possible in DF.
I guess, we will see a lot more regional conflicts and domination scenarios.. but however, lets wait and lets see how it turns out.
How big where the clan/guilds in UO? I have problem to think clans will survival for long with to many members. Keeping a few hundreds of PvP players with free will...mmmmm.
But there will be some big clans for a short period of time, then they will break down and it all start over again.
And that my freind is where the true calns come in, a clan with about 50 loyal player will be able to control small area. Now is they control a crouded dock or a resouce they will grow in wealth and in most games wealth is power theyll be able to pay mercenary clans to knock off their competitors. So im guessing as long as a clan is loyal and small thell have power. But still as you said it would be near impossible to rule the whole game.
There's little risk of any truly massive guilds imposing thier rule over substantial territory. In EvE even BoB is held in thier little corner of the galaxy. Alliances shift and MMO players tend to be of the rebellious type. If some guild is spreading over the land they'll most likely band together to retaliate. People like the challenge and the prestige of being the victorious underdog.
For the first few weeks I expect Darkfall to be pretty varied. Pre existing guilds will work quickly to solidifiy thier power base, there'll be countless crazy nut jobs trying to WTFBBQ anything that moves, there'll be some of the 'I was here first' types who'll lift the fog o' war, and a number of friendly chaps who'll start off looking for new friends to check out the new world with. Personally, I'd probably hold off on the PvP initially. I'd like to figure out the game before risking death, but that's just me.

Same here. I'd lay low while all the newb wars were going on. (Not saying they aren't fun. ) I'd probably go out hunting with my fellow dwarves, make friends while getting a feel for the game and making some money. Then hopefully join/start a small close knit guild. Hopefully we'd stand our own against bigger guilds, with the help of maybe an alliance or two with other small guilds.
All I can say is LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNDDD RRRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUSSSSHHHH!!! Anyone remember that movie Far and Away w/ Kidman and Cruz? That's all I can think of, but with swords instead of six shooters.... That'll be the first few weeks... It's gonna RULE!

it will be choatic, but i think it won't be a big mess. Atleast they have some towns that people can't just go and kill each other, but outside world........ thatz another story.
i hope they have something like UO which the pker gets penalty. That time was fun....... But if you don't get penalty for killing innocent people, then this game will always be choatic.

Darkfall is going to have alignment adjusted by your actions. Read the overview, it has a lot of good information.
I wonder who is gonna build the first boat. I mean it must take tons of supplies to build it so im thinkin a guild would have to be very organized to buid one. Same goes for towns but i think boats are gonna be were the action is. which is why a pirates life is gonna be for me! Im gonna be in the first merc pirateship, even if i have to stowaway lol.

This is where your priorities set in and since I know little to nothing about how Darkfalls works, I'll just go with the flow. If killing people provides monetary or XP value, will it override the consequences of alignment. Do you build a city right away for a defence structure or forgo that to build a ship to sail to some uncharted and uninhabited island for an even more ideal location for a town. Now, I know that Darkfalls has no leveling, but I believe its skills can improve correct? Well, my lack of knowledge of this game is probably causing a lot of your fans to chuckle with my response, but I think you get the point.
Prioritizing is going to be key, when do you build your town and where. Cause if its anything like what Shadowbane had, it will become quite chaotic with alliances, treason, mercenaries and bribery.
Yes, Darkfall uses a skill system, there are supposed to be almost 500 skills and spells at release which you can learn from NPC's or other players. Then its just leveling from use. As well, I'm pretty positive from what I've read that there will be a lot of capturable NPC towns scattered over the different kingdoms. So it will be who gets the strength to take them and then defend.
Darkfall is promising a very large non instanced world where in remote areas you may not even meet players more then once a day so I'm sure things shouldn't be too crowded but they definitely will be chaotic. Rhoklaw, you should read mmorpg.com's overview of Darkfall, it has a lot of interesting and useful information which originally got me into the game.
I think as long as your good/evil rating goes down with any kill of a good player anywhere in the world (not counting waring clans) then it won't be any more hardcore than other games on their pvp servers. Simply because people hate not being able to go into big cities. Players don't like limiting what they can do, and being evil does that quickly.
