Now this could be the biggest technology based MMO in history. It has so much potential and promise, someone's gotta make it. Robots, fast cars, jet fighters, big trucks....this game would have it all!
Comments
it could possibly be the next biggest thing next to Auto Assault.
It could if it was open ended and you got to put skill points into what kinda robot you wanted. Open ended gameplay lots of player options would make it possible, To bad it wont happen and it would just mimic the current crop of loot level raid loot some more crap fest.
Hmm, no thanks.
I'd wait to see a Mech MMO make money before developing one about the Transformers. Basically a Mechwarrior MMO or a Steampunk style MMO with Mechs would help make this a reality.
I would play Mechwarrior MMO but I would not play Transformers MMO...
Not every single freakin movie ever made needs to be made into an MMORPG. This kinda tripe was being suggested when the 300 came out. FFS enjoy the movie and do not give SOE anymore ideas for ip's they can run into the ground roflmao. Next thing someone should recommend is a Mission Impossible or James Bond mmo... oh wait... Sony is already on the ball with that one rofl.

no it would be so totaly gay because they would make it for young kids and nerf the hell out of everything and make suck.
picture toon town with transforming robots collecting energon cubes.
Depends on who is the developer and who is the publisher. Also it depends on what kind of system (class/level vs skill-tree, loot vs craft). I would imagine Transformers MMO would be FFA PvP for the two faction (Autobot vs Decepticon). Or even use the RF's CW idea - turn all energon mines into localized battlefield and each side must battle over to gain the right to mine, yet it can change after a set time.
There are many good idea for Transformers MMO, just have to have the right developers to develop it.
Current MMO: FFXIV:ARR
Past MMO: Way too many (P2P and F2P)
Hahaha, impulse MMO!!! Oooh, Transformers movie is coming out....an MMO would be cool...
Did the OP think a Transformers MMO would be cool 5 years ago? Probably not.
HELL YEAH! This game would sell as much as the Transformers games for the consoles sold... and I work at EB games. Want to know how many we sold? 3. That's right, 3.
Huge blockbuster in the making.
Before you get excited, play hellhounds for the 360 - if they make a game like that for transformers I think I'll kill myself. Transformers is the last unspoiled IP. Were lucky that a movies come out that isnt complete tripe, thank the gods dont pray for more risk! If Transformers goes under were left with Thundercats..... Thundercats mmo? :P
Hopefully they will release gundam mmo in the west to test mechs out.

Though I would play one if done right... I wouldn't trust many developers to do it right.
On a related note... I just saw Transformers tonight... And it's A-W-E-S-O-M-E.
I'd play most any IP if it was done right. At the end of the day it's the game play that's important.
I would prefer a Gundam MMO, anyways. At least if you use that, you're actually getting a 'plot'. What's the plot in Transformers? It's like evil robots that can turn into vehicles very similar to our own come to Earth, but then good robots that can turn into vehicles come to save us. So then the evil and good robots meet up at various places, talk to each other in perfect English (Usually saying things like 'I'll stop you!' and 'You can't stop me!'), and then fight.
I mean, c'mon. They should have at least made it somewhat believe able. Like they could have been humans in cars that got zapped by an out of control radioactive experiment. That, or they got bit by something that was radioactive. Radioactivity has to be involved.
lol, Gundam Musou, but MMO
Sorry with the lack of thought and innovative thinking from today's developers I wouldn't trust anyone at this moment to make a MMORPG that would do the Transformer's name justice. It would have to be open ended and completely free of the level based crappy systems that almost all MMOs nowadays rely on(a crutch).
Here's a couple examples on why it wouldn't work:
"Hey XxOptimusXPrime!11 is afking honor farming again, GG nub!"
" Sorry Optimus11Xx but you only have 5 dkp and 1337OptimusX has 10dkp you can't have that [Uber Cannon of BOOM] "
"LF10M raid on Destructicon!" lol
Only EvE is has jumped out of the raid until you drop box in the last few years and also the original SWG, both are sandbox games and in my opinion that would be only way to successfully develop Transformers.
Bottom line is I don't think its going to happen but I can see a First person online shooter coming around fairly soon(BF2142, Battlefield 2 etc.)
no thanx
LoL, sometimes I think the MMO community in general (note: not everyone) is the most negative community I've ever encountered. I can't believe that a fantasy MMO that doesn't even exist has been shot down without a second thought. Are we so used to bad MMOs that we now assume that any new or fresh idea will be crap?
Personally, I’ll try out ANY MMO that comes out, regardless of what it’s about or who makes it. Why? Because I love MMOs, and each new game carries the genre a little bit further. Don’t be so quick to dismiss.
If developers started working on it now, enough of a userbase should have the technology to run it well enough in 3 years time (at release) that it will look as good as it should.
Maybe something for NCsoft? .... sorry i just couldn't help myself...

Just cuz original ideal have been badly implemented in the past doesnt mean that every upcoming new idea will be as well. Though the track record for IPs speaks for itself it doesnt have to stay that way forever.
"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience"
