LoTRo novelization rocks!!!

I am still working my way through the LotRo novelization. Its easily the best novelization of a video game I have ever read. The cool part is that the writer takes a lot of the game concepts and just runs with them. I heard that there might be some prequels in the works that I think I might check out too. I am a bit disappointed though that some of the game idea didn’t make it into the book. Where are the Lore Master characters? Why write a tie-in novel unless you are going to embrace the whole setting?

In any case, I recommend the book.

They've come out with a movie adaptation of the game as well; however, I heard it wasn't much like the game. The heroes never kill any boar, bear or bog-lurkers, and Bree is pictured as being muddy and grimy -- nothing like the Bree in-game which is the size of Tokyo and full of sparklingly clean paved streets, highrise buildings and statuary.

That would be so funny if someone was to think the books came from the game instead of the other way around.  Pretty funny thread if you ask me, but I know the OP has to be joking (I hope anyhow).

There is a movie tie in too! Excellent! I can't get enough of this game setting!

In the movie do they eat all the time? It seems like all they ever do in the novelization is eat and/or talk about eating. It makes me hungry when I read the book.

The characters also like to caucyus a lot before they take any action -- even inconsequential actions. Especially the Hunter character. I think thats a clever stab at the way that some groups handle content. I also like the Hobbit character who is always "lfg" and then totally bails on his party mid-quest after they loot that dunegon. What a ninja! I hate players like that. I hope he gets shafted later.

I'm not joking, the book is really, really good for a video game book. Having read the WoW novelizations I would have thought this was a joke too. But these are actually worth checking out.

Give them a shot before you accuse me of pulling your leg.

I just picked up one of the DVDs from the local mom and pop video place. It was ok, but I really departed from the original game quite a bit. Where was the Old Forest? The Barrow downs? It seemed the movie invented a whole lot of content that wasn't in the game at all. And they didn't do a very good job of casting actors that looked like the original game characters.

On the other hand, I'm looking forward to find Arwen in the game. What a babe! Does anyone know where she is?

Everyone in this thread needs to be taken outside and thoroughly beaten, me especially.
