a question about levels in this game since its PvP only

doinkermitdoinkermit Member Posts: 36

since this game is pure PvP

will you go up levels depending on how many games you win and will there be a matchmaking system where you fight people around your same level?

(basically im describing the halo 2 online system)

will it be like that?

Currently Playing: GW
Waiting For: Fury, AoC, GW:EN

You gain ranks by doing trials (PvP quests) which unlock new abilities and such.

Yes, it has a matchmaking system.

You gain a resource called "essence" if you win or lose in a PvP match, then you spend this on trials to unlock new skills.  When you finish a chain of skills you get a new rank.

There is 10 ranks, and designed that it shouldn't take an average gamer to long to get to 10.  Example is that a serious player can get to 4 in 12 hours, and probably 8 in a weekend.  But thats the beta weekend where people try to fight non-stop.

Also there isn't a very high different between a low rank and a rank10, about 25% in damage output.  Ability to own is mostly based off of build and player skill, not so much time invested directly.  But player skill is also a function of time invested among other things.

Fury is Server vs Server - and it is planed to have some sort of skill/rank based matchmaking system.

Currently the game starts to get really good fun as soon as you hit "level" 3-4 since you are then able to equip better armor/weapons - and more importantly more skills. True you could win as a low "level" against some higher players by just playing better or using the map to your advantage but your options are severely limited. But as I said above, "level up" twice, which is pretty fast anyway, and you got plenty of options to choose from.
