I NEED PROGRAMMERS!

i am an artist and i want to make my own mmorpg. i got the ideas and the art part covered but i dont no programming...

obviously this is a major setback an im clueless of what to do next. it will b impossible for me to do the art and the programming and all the ideas myself.

are there any programmers out there willing to programme my game?

keeping in mind i need someone who is expereinced and who will be dedicated to this project.

the graphics are in 2d

pets, npc auctions and battles will be in the game

races etc. with random outcomes example: race your pet against several computer controlled pets

If this is a non paying gig, I dont think your turnout is going to be so good. Unless it would be for some type of portfolio for the programmer. Programming a new game from scratch is extremely time consuming and going months without pay isnt a good thing image

Learn how to spell before you get into the MMORPG business. image

And, is "pets, npc auctions and battles" the highlights of your game or what?

Do not pay attention to the above poster. He is just mad becuase thier mom just yelled at them to get a job and move out of her basement. image

Seriously though, if your looking for programmers, your sales pitch needs a little work, this is not a slam friend, just an honest opinion. Give a little more info on your dream, what makes it different from the others?

If I were you, I would draw ALL the characters and make a story line and try selling it to an already established gaming company. That will make your life easy and maybe have further employment with a number of software companies.

Good luck in finding your dream.

i cant remember the url to the site right now but there is a few of them out there with REAL programmers from other countries willing to program whatever you describe, that is if you got the money, you post your project on there site and then 50,000 programmers from around the world bid on your project and give a little info about themself... be warned anything worth making is going to cost you a decent penny though. but i recommend posting it over there and seeing what response you get from the programmers as they will tell you if it can be done or not.. the best part though is some of these programmers are from russia, i used to have russians doing tech support for my sites, they charged $5/hr for tech support while my old host charged $80/hr. a site like pogo.com with mini multiplayer games chat and prizes will run you over $500,000.

im on the exact opposite end though i got the cash to start a true big mmorpg but i got no knowledge of how to program it, and 1 person aint going to do much anyways.

oh here is the url http://www.listbid.com there is a few others like it.

    heres an example:

Description: need the multiplayer game where the player can chat to other players online , also can go every where in the games city , the player can play game with other players in the games house , need in flash , player can download the file so the player can easy login to the game area in the the own computer without using the broswe

programmer1 $80: i really doubt that you can get a project that big done for 150$. here's what i have to offer i'll write you an executable game(browser independent) where users can login in the game and the game will check their login info from your website and log them in then the players can play online in the game. but i will not include anywebdesigning for that price. message me if interested.

programmer2 $2100: Hi there. We have gone through your requirements. Project will be done using PHP within 26 business days. We also offer one month of free customer support after project finish. Please open PMB to request about portfolio, experience with similar applications and feedback from our customers. Thank you!

programmer3 $200,000: A game developer with a professional team (creating games such as Allflight), we can produce an online multiplayer game within 1 year

Actually, pay attention to the above poster. Game designers can come from many backgrounds, but the key to their success is having good communication skills. If you are really serious about game design, take some creative writing classes. Personally, I think game designers need to know basic programming concepts. Take a class or pick up a few books on C++. Learn some scripting languages (Unreal Script for Unreal Engine games could be a good start). If you are more of an artistic type, maybe stick with modeling, texturing, etc. There's also books out there on game development that aren't programming oriented such as Game Development and Production by Erik Bethke. Having characters and story lines aren't going to get you a gig in the game industry.

I think there's a common misconception among non-programmers that they think programmers just sit around waiting for someone to come up with a good idea for a game. I'm a programmer and can tell you that's far from the truth. I have my own game ideas and keep them in a wiki. Because of my programming background, I can make a demo or mockup of my ideas which demonstrate my game ideas and gameplay more than a piece of paper or document.

Lastly, this was not a good place to post your topic. There's a Help Wanted section in Developer's Corner, which would have been a better suited place for your post.

I posted this to you before on another thread but didn't really know or care if you saw it.

Anyways I really think you should check out the gamedev.net forums. You will probably find a lot more people dedicated to developing there.
