NCSoft or Bioware, either would probably do a fine job.

    SOE.

  • njdevi66njdevi66 Member UncommonPosts: 216

    Anyone but SOE and EA.

My picks would be in order.

    1: NCsoft

2: CCP, Would make one hell of a sandbox with tons of skills like the SWG we all loved.

3: Would have been Mythic but now belongs to EA... sorry mythic

4: Blizzard, only b/c the game would work and would be finished polished product.

    5: Bioware

    6: Funcom

7: Areae, Inc : Who better to do it then Raph. Sorry i put him at 7th but i figured he might not want to touch another star wars MMO.

I am sure this is wrong but I heard they did not do there own online game because they had no experiance makeing them and decided to get someone with xp to make it for them. I am sure that is wrong it is all hear say. Since I had never played a online game before I remeber one day chatting with a bunch of people in the med center and someone said that. If they want totaly control then it makes no sense why they do not make there own.

I do not want to vote for NCsoft because I do not want to jinx the good experiiances I habve had with them so far. I am also still not sure who all the players are in the MMO world. I think I would just be happy to have a skill tree system like in pre-cu and open ended game play. Also good customer support would be nice also and updates as bug free as possable.

Put your feeling of WoW aside dont you think Blizzard shows the most talent to date, if you compare the smoothness of game play and player interaction.. all other MMO's that I have played EQ2,AO,VG and DAoC moving my WoW toon around the enviroment is x100 better, no invisible walls, warping, choppy animations the other games my character feels sluggish and slow to respond.

I would say if a new SW mmo was to be developed I would list...
    1.  Cryptic Studios
    2.  Turbine
    3.  Blizzard
    4.  AreneNet
as some good choices.  They are all very good companies with very good track records of putting out good games.

One problem with that, The only company that would make a Starwars game would be Cryptic just maybe, My vote goes  to Bio-ware they are the bomb!

    Playing: Everthing
    Played: DAoC,AC2,EvE,SWG,WAR,MXO,CoX,EQ2,L2,LOTRO,SB,UO,WoW.
I have played every MMO that has ever come out.

SOE did a bloody good job until LA decided they wanted to change it..

    I wouldn't say that.

Early SWG was Raph Koster's work.  He was quickly pulled off the project after launch, and he's since left SOE.

If you want the company that originally developed SWG, SOE is not the company you're looking for.

    SOE has money too....

Money = nothing... well it helps but it doesn't make or break mmos.

NCSoft  -- why the f would you want a crapy mmo made?

Cryptic Studs ok not a bad idea?

Mythic ok id try just about any mythic game

Blizzard id try it but i know it end up lame. (after they have fired the people who have made it and replaced them with a chaos AI that randomy changes the game.)

Im suprised for not seeying BioWare on the Poll, so i dind vote, because the onl company that would to a wonderfull job is BioWare, i thing at this time the Only good MMO for SW would be Kotor to gain the trust again of the MMO player on LA

  • heimdallsheimdalls Member Posts: 8

Bioware wasnt on the list and tbh Lucasarts. If they built it around the storyline of Jedi Knight 2

Lucasarts could make an awesom MMO if they just stopped arsing around and the old bearded dude at the top remembered what Star wars was all about.

  • fcweddfcwedd Member UncommonPosts: 196

I vote Blizzard. Everything they touch turns into a hit classic. Also, the servers will always be populated due to the fact that it's a Blizzard game. Hmm, now all we need to do is learn how to speak Korean.

any other then $OE criminals along with with the current companies they have ex developers under contract like

Helliass (Kai Steinmann),  Jeff Freeman , Nancy (analphabet) Macintyre, Tora Tora Torres and every else criminal involved in destroying my gaming experience back in 2005.

Preferring Raph Koster Company again (THE MAN with THE  vision about MMOs)

    -----MY-TERMS-OF-USE--------------------------------------------------
$OE - eternal enemy of online gaming
-We finally WON !!!! 2011 $OE accepted that they have been fired 2005 by the playerbase and closed down ridiculous NGE !!

Bioware said they wont work with LA again, so it's pointless. I was meant to vote for CCP but i voted for Blizzard by mistake lol, though none of those companies would do it aswel.

I think SOE will work on the 2nd one or Turbine, however they might go for a new company.

  • RekamRekam Member UncommonPosts: 90

KotOR mmo could go anywhere I wouldn't be surprised.  But it's safe to say anything related to SWG will be under SOE if unlikely developed.  Any SW mmo that comes out will be involved with LA.  Thats just as worse as SOE.

First off, SOE won't be doing the "Second" SWG. Trust me. Theres already foul water between SOE and LA. I don't think LA will trust them with the next installment out of fear of them running the game into the dirt Pre-launch.

Now, as to who i'd prefer do it? Lets debate some..

Bioware. Love the company. I like their games and have few arguements towards them. But they aren't exceptionally MMO-handy in my opinion. They need a bit of experience before i'd let them father my SWG-child.. so we'll call it. Stick to the Singleplayer Games for now Bioware, practice some more on the side and we can talk.

Turbine. A good company. I'll give them that. But they're currently focused on LOTRO and given that a majority of companies go the business route.. they'll likely be milking their pubescent brainchild for a little while longer before moving on... so even if i wanted them... they're probably out of the question for now.

NCSoft. Another good company. They've released some pretty damn good stuff... but on the other hand.. They're grinding down on Tabula Rasa, and will be working with it for a while after release... so at the most we could expect years before *SWG2* from them... and in the same.. CoH/CoV didn't really impress me all that much..

Mythic. Warhammer... good series... not SWG... nowhere near SWG. They're on fantasy... not Sci-Fi... they're busy with their own stuff. A good idea, but not on the book page as far as i'm concerned. WaR  will probably be excellent, but again... not the same thing.

    SOE. NO.

CCP.  Expansive game-systems. Check. Sci-Fi experience. Check. Solid company. Check. free expansions. Good check. What i'm looking for. No check. Dunno why... but CCP just doesn't appeal to me... they're good with EVE... eve is lacking something.. at least for me.. and i wouldn't want that in SWG2.

EA Games. A very big company who could no doubt easily handle the situation. But heres the thing. EA is having money issues right now. Several of their projects, including Spore have been put to the side because of this. It doesn't mean they aren't making new titles, or have ceased working on [WIP] titles... but it makes them a little unstable... i'll have to pass on them for now.. sorry guys! Besides, EA games has a questionable rep. I'm still watching to see if they pull their butts out of the frying pan and whether they land on the burner or the counter..

Microsoft. No. I love your OS microsoft.. but your games? Just don't always make the cut. At least not on PC-brand games. Stick to your Halo and console franchise. Its where its at for you guys.

Blizzard. If i HAD to pick someone. Heres where i would go. WoW drives me insane and was/is the arch-rival of SWG.. but they are a solid company who has done good things. They've got sci-FI experience (Starcraft) and good MMO experience (WoW+1 EP) They've got the funding and a decent eye... but i don't know if i'd like to trust them with the Star Wars Title.. i don't even think they'd take it as they're pretty selfish when it comes to titles. They do with their own creations usually... not someone elses'.

Lucas Arts. The best choice in my mind. Sure they're not always honest. Sure they don't always do the right thing.., but what company is the perfect angel? George Lucas signs off on most everything that happens here. I want that. They said he did it with SOE and SWG.. but look what they pulled anyways? He signed for a *change*.. and was ticked when he found out what that change was. With it under Lucas Arts... how could they go wrong with him. George likes to please the audience.. and he's done that so far with his movies and franchises. If its going downhill. bet your ass he'll try to pull it back up before its completely dead. Lucas Arts is Star Wars. Just as Harrison Ford and Mark Hamil will ALWAYS be known for their Star Wars roles. So why not entrust a STAR WARS game with the STAR WARS company?

    An optional choice---

    A company with Raph Koster.

    One word. YES.

Lionhead offcourse, they might not have the experience, but you know they trow in a lot of love and passion while making it :P. Shamefully (Or it an good thing) They will never get into the MMO genre, but they defintly one of the better companies out there with I know if they want to do it they could pull it of and even make an great game.

For the rest I really do not trust any company to create and good MMO.

Ugh this is so broken record... So here goes... play it mr. dj one more time:  Only BioWare branch in Canada said they would not be working with LA again however they very cleverly avoid saying ANYTHING about it from the Texas branch, the one working on the MMO.  They have to keep it secret, which if it is Star Wars makes good sense to keep hush for now.  Either way, we'll know by 2009.

BioWare would be my dream choice because they'd really put the 'RPG' back in MMORPG.  Second choice would be NCSoft but only because I've had great experiences with them and they do strive to deliver quality... but I think going with the standard fare of companies would be a bad idea because we'll end up Nerfing Tattooine Boars rahter than something innovative and creative like I believe BioWare can write

Why do I write, create, fantasize, dream and daydream about other worlds? Because I hate what humanity does with this one.

BOYCOTTING EA / ORIGIN going forward.
