Hello, Lord Ouroboros from stargateworlds.com forum,
I would like to talk about the "pet-master" archetypes, i.e the Asgard and the Goa'uld.
So, ok, we know sgw-asgards rely on robots, while sgw-goa'ulds rely on slaves, which is why they were once mysteriously announced as a pet-master class of some sort. When I read about them, I understood that each character of those archetypes would have a small army following him everywhere. As small as one servant at the beginning, but then more and more impressive. I also understood that the character would give orders to one servant at a time, therefore being able to "switch" from a group of skills to another.
However, according to many members of the stargateworlds.com forum, even one little pet following you everywhere is an awful lag creator, and therefore the game can't be like I said.
My problem is that I don't see how it is supposed to be. I just don't get the idea.
If the future Q&A Podcast does involve my question, I will wait until it. Otherwise, I would like some explanations.

This question is actually answered by Dan Elggren in Dev Q&A: Episode I, which will hopefully be released this afternoon!

Very good Q&A-1. That's definitely a good way to share data about the game.
So, there wasn't any word about the lag issue. Well, yes, there was, about the servers, but not about the NPC army.
Anyway, NPC army seems to be planned. I like that.
Yes with a seemingly spawnable NPC minion army I'm sure that kind of server lag tactics I've seen on other MMO's might be an issue.
Hopefully this game mechanic will be heavily tested during the alpha/beta stages of the games development. I hope they'll be able to simulate the numbers they expect in game via real world tests. Specially the client side of things as they are really intent on international distribution of Stargate Worlds.
Actually if you think of it wouldn't the Asguard be the pet masters while the gou'ald would be the jack of all trades ? thats what I thought until now.. and I don't think that the Gou'ald would get a spawnable game at the moment.. more like I think 2 or 3 minions... if they get the ability to have minions..
