I personally am kinda happy I haven't gotten in. After testing so many other games in the past I find that it spoils the enjoyment of playing in the finished game. Plus there are a whole lot of single player RPG's coming out between now and warhammer's release that I am hoping I will be reinvigorated for the genre by then.
Be happy for you friend and brother on their good fortune, but don't hesitate to hijack their computers if they ever leave the beta on and leave the room for any reason.
I'm not depressed that I didn't get in, I'm just glad to see its in open beta. Helps my mental countdown process that the game is coming.
Yeah, we are all glad that it surprisingly wasn't delay more. But it's not open beta yet, just close beta.
They already said several times, there wont be a "open" beta.
There will be an Open Beta, it just won't be the standard, currently accepted definition of an Open Beta. Pretty much the only describing factor of what makes an open beta open is the lifting of the NDA.
I'm starting to think these first beta phases are only accepting users with unusually high end computer specs, I'm basing this on the recent video blog when one of them mentioned the initial system requirements were "ENORMOUS" ...i could be misquoting but thats the jist of it. .. maybe after the next 40% reduction I'll get a shot heh, im just not willing to build a new comp until the holidays when i can snag some sales or something.
I'm not sure were you guys get your information from. I suggest you take a look at www.warhammeralliance.com. Most of the devs post there and have answers to all your questions. Use the dev post tracking tool on the page.
The system requirements are not that high, and there will be no open beta. However if you applied for beta you are most likely getting in at some point. If you want to increase your chances at getting in early start a DAOC subscription and sign up for their newsletter. Otherwise you probably are not getting in until the last phase.
I know two VERY close people that neither have über system specs nor have they ever played DAoC and they got into Beta. They got their email this week.

MMORPG new post Alert! hey thanks!
It sucks when your best friend or brother gets into closed beta and they're like: I got in the Beta lol!
And I'm like:

True, Climax stopping the project nearly killed me, lol.

Well, I'm still keeping my fingers crossed.
