Since every single player who just got bored of Lotro makes a new post, a new post telling that I still enjoy the game (and enjoying more and more as I am closing on T4 and T4 crafting masteries), I think this post is just as valid as theirs
And yes, I cannot put my finger on why I still love LOTRO. Whenever I go home, I just still feel like logging in.... strange?

The only reason the "We're bored" posts outnumber the "We enjoy the game" posts is because the "We enjoy the game" people are playing the game, while most people who post about how bad this or any game is normally don't have a game and are waiting for WAR or AOC and there is nothing good till then. I'm not sure why, but I'll defiantly laugh if those two games turn out like vangaurd. I got a good kick out of that one too.

I don't think it very likely at all that WAR will do what Vanguard did, because it is being developed by a studio with one acclaimed game under its belt already, but I agree that AoC could come out that way. We'll see, I'm holding out hope about AoC and am an eager anticipator of WAR.
But, I do think I am going to play some LOTRO, I played in Alpha and had a pretty good time.
Me too. Love this game. I have played almost everyday since I got into Closed Beta in late February, I still feel the need to log in as often as possible, miss meals, forget to sleep, all that. Can't wait to see where this game is at in a year......
While I don't really lose sleep or social life time of any sort, I've been playing since Beta in January and still play and enjoy. Sometimes I need to take a break from it but when I return I'm having fun agian. Now I must say that while the game is very well done, it's nothing 'SPECIAL' by itself. BUT an excellent community, where many role play make every time I form or join a fellowship a blast. Good times with friends and strangers alike.
Very pleased with the LotRO community.
BOYCOTTING EA / ORIGIN going forward.
I hope both WAR and AoC come out as great games. This genre has had too many failures and there is plenty of room for several good games. I am just sick of Studios releasing half finished buggy piles of crap then the fan boys making excuses for them. Turbine has proved that a good release is not a fluke of luck so I say go Funcom and Mythic. Maybe someone over at that other big name studio will get it through his head that people are tired of and will not pay for his half ass bullshit releases.
I miss DAoC
It seems to me that turbine put most of their time into making the game smooth and non-buggy and not putting anytime into making the game fun past the lvl of 20. I know there are some of you who love the game past those levels. But i've come across more than a handful of players who are completely bored with the game. They focused too much time on making the game smooth, and really didn't focus any effort on making the game fun and addictive, that is that sad truth that is in the back of most of the lotro player's minds.
I gave up after harvesting over 1500 hides and was still less than halfway there.
Not that it mattered, nothing I could make was worth selling.
If they are playing the game, then why am I starting to see so many posts about empty servers?
And I personally don't have much faith in AoC as it stands now. I keep hearing rumors that they much hyped combat system is not working at all like it is supposed to.

You might hear rumors but until you try it out for yourself you can't make a legit opinion about it.
I'd love to know where you're hearing about empty servers?

Truth is not a factor there! Facts and proofs are to be avoided as far as possible.
Yesterday I went into the AH, and forgot to switch off visible titles by accident. I almost went blind, the whole room was a mess of names+titles ) Snowbourn server btw.

Although from day one i knew LOTRO is not that special MMO i (and everyone else) was waiting for.
I love it. I enjoy it. And i still play it , even after 1 month of beta and steady after the release.
Have great kinship of hard core roleplayers , the game is beutiful and full of detail , and quests are getting better and richer in story...
I haven't played for more than almost a month, but mostly I'm in love with the game. Nice graphics, and the quests are pretty involving, unlike most of WoW's. Especially the epic quest chain gets me w....hmmm, I don't know if I can use that expression on these boards. Anyway, so far, so good.

The servers are far from empty. That stage isn't due for a couple more months. But, "there is no endgame" is a certain fact. And no, you can't count chicken play.

Hi Stan... oops, sorry I probably mistook you for someone.
There is no endgame, as there is no endgame as such in any MMOG. There are only bored gamers with too much time who burn out on all the games in the world.
And LOTRO will only pull in more and more new MMO players and casuals with very limited time - for as many years as the devs remain as cheerful and enthusiastic so that they come up with crazy ideas like chicken play

Lets see if I have this right. Started with game will be a failure at launch. Didn't happen. So then it was no one will subscribe at the end of the free month. Didn't happen either. Game will have empty servers and be doing server merges by end of 2nd month. Still did not happen. Now it is someday the servers will shutdown, that I can buy into. I predict in less than twenty years the game will be over and done with.

You are seeing those posts because some people are liars. The empty server thing is simply not true. A handful of people got bored and quit, then a little group of trolls who never liked the game to begin repeated the boredom comments. Server activity is brisk and healthy. Even the low level areas are still heavily populated... I never have trouble finding a group, my friends-list and kinship roster grow every day. I'm sure some people are being honest about getting bored with the game, or it just not being the game for them... but the empty server thing is BS.... in fact, I haven't even seen anyone say that, first hand. Other than Stanly's normal trolling, I haven't seen it anywhere.
-----Zero Punctuation Eve Online Review-----
If you really think things are going well in LOTRO land, just look at the high percentage of "i am bored" type posts here http://forums.lotro.com/forumdisplay.php?f=2
But to be honest, not sure why I still bother to post here. Cancelled a couple of weeks ago and I have already forgotten some of my characters names.. LOTRO I think has set a new record for me for being the most forgettable game ever.
Yeah, but Laiina. Didn't you know and understand that you have to treat this game like your salary only spend that much each day so it will last the full month/2weeks. I mean you should onlyplay one or two hours per day if you want the game to last. If you'd play even less, let say 30 minutes, then you would got a game that lasts a lifetime.
Didn't you understand that...
Hey by the way if you'd only played 2h every odd week that is the first full week of every month guess how long the game would have lasted then.
I'm so broke. I can't even pay attention.
"You have the right not to be killed"
makes 2 of us. no idea why u keep posting here tbh .
the ppl who play and enjoy the game will keep doing so no matter how many basherposts u and teh trolls make. it's like those ppl who post "let vanguard die, I dont play it anymore". FFS, others are playing it and enjoying it, if you're not then nobody gives a f*ck what you think anyways
and anyone with half a brain, who might wanna try the game out should in all f*cking honesty do so no matter how much trolls bash this game. coz you just wont know until u try it.
is it for everyone? no, we've already established that in countless posts up til now, gief it a rest already.
one 4 page thread ( most of the posts were rebuttals to the OP) is a high percentage. Get a grip laiina. Dunno why you post either, same old shit every post . LoTRO is not a perfect game and it isn't for everyone but why the persitance in warning people on a game that has over a 80% average rating in over 30 reviews on major sites? Are you that bored with EQII again already?

I think, i agree with ormstunga.

Yeah, I know it sucks to have a job, a wife/GF, a garden to take care of and a lot of friends+family to visit in this hot (30+C here for weeks) summer, as it takes away a lot of time from playing. Oh, how I wish not to have all these, so I could "max out" the game in a month or 2, and then come here daily to whine about getting bored.I'm sooo miserable
