duck duck goose

Anyone heard any news on beta yet or just the same old duck duck goose sit and wait crap that's been going on since like 2003 cause the duck duck goose they've been doing now for over 4 years is getting really really old.

Last rumor mill thing I heard was closed or open beta in summer sometime, but then again I'm pretty sure I've heard that same thing for the last 4 years and same thing for fall, winter, and spring over the last 4 years as well. So far Darkfall's credibility is very nill looking to me from a outsiders perspective at least I mean even if it is real and does come out when will it be and in what condition is the question?

Will it even be playable or will it be even more bug ridden and less playable than UO was on release. UO was a great game even at release, but it's not to recall the serious flaws it had I mean it was so prevalent that the only way for a bug or "exploit" to get fixed was for a site to publicly post how to abuse it in great detail to the general public on Dr Twisters Bug Shack or whatever it was called it's been awhile. I can't imagine if Darkfall was released with the same kind of bugs that plagued UO because have no where near the same amount of developer resources available at there disposal so it would take far far longer for fixes to occur and could cripple the game before it even had a chance to start.

Nothing is certain. From what little I know of devekopment there are three factors involved; cash, time and quality. You can only prioritize two, which one would you choose ? My working theory is that these developers have limited cash (only 20+ developers active) and they want to make a high quality game, a long development will follow.

    As for beta;

Darkfall Developer Journal #9: The Beta Question

Article by Tasos Flambouras (Ass. Producer, Darkfall)

This update will be a proper journal entry, the last couple of weeks we did some race presentations here, before we had a couple of lore updates.

We've been throwing around the word beta quite a bit, and it's not to churn the waters, it's because it's what we're working on right now. An editorial on this site urged us to come out with a date. Well that's nice, and we will when we have one. We've specified that our internal target date is this summer and we can't get more specific yet, but we will when we're ready to make an announcement. We have recent negative examples of games with good potential being rushed out having been improperly tested and we don't want that for Darkfall. Things are going well and we'll keep you updated on that front as we know more ourselves.

Posted 31. may so it is pretty recent.

A more realistic beta is probably fall...we'll see

This failed years ago already. Someone just forgot to let the people building it know.

Age of Conan , Warhammer and pretty much any other new mmorpg coming out pretty much gurantees this is a failure. They missed their chance a long ass time ago.

It's so obvious that they have no clue how to build a MMO.

...... You created an account just to bash Darkfall?... I swear these vaporware trolls must be really desperate now....

Quoting people doesn't make you clever, in fact, it makes you all the more stupid for not bothering to read the quotes you post in the first place.

TBH, if they realease the game with all the stuff they promised I don't know how AoC or AoR would be even comparable to Darkfall. I mean yes, AoC and AoR will probably have much more subscribers, but they are games that are developed with the idea of getting in as much people as possible into the game, while Darkfall developers try to develop the game that they want to play. AoC and AoR will be played by many, and they will like it. If Darkfall releases it will be played by less people, but they are gonna spedn hours and hours playing it and really enjoying it as no other game before.

AoC and WAR is pretty overhyped by now. None of them haven't very good sandbox qualities compared to what Darkfall promises. Everyone I have talked to would play Darkfall rather than AoC or WAR based on published features. I don't think Darkfall have anyting to worry about.

those 'published features' won't ever happen so its kind of a moot point... they don't have the manpower or resources to put a features list like World of Warcraft has. It just isn't going to happen.

they have yet to show about 90% of those published features in any kind of functioning form. The most they've shown at this point is a game in its most simplest form. And thats after maybe 4 solid years in development.   6-7 total from the very beginning.

"AoC and WAR is pretty overhyped by now. "

Thats because there is actually something to hype. Like functioning games with 80% of all their features in place and with people actually playing them.  See any difference???

The masses don't care about slight differences in gameplay. They care about quality and how many other people are playing.

It's basically guranteed that both AoC and War will be 100x better in overall quality and have about 100x more players.

A game like darkfall NEEDS tons of players because of it's style and anything that has PvP is competition. A full PvP game relies on interaction with lots of other players constantly otherwise theres just nothing to do and if everyone is off playing the others then darkfall is not going to be anything worth playing to anyone except a small hardcore bunch. And that can't support a game for long.

Do you know why they can't get a publisher?, because no one has proven that an open ended pvp game can survive in the current marketplace. They look at Shadowbane and shudder. Small dev staffs with big eyes when it comes to feature sets make most investors shudder.

they might prove people wrong, but unless they can set some realistic goals and stick to them, I just don't have a lot of hope any more. You can only put off people so long.....

and trying to say it looks better than War or AoC is just plain sad because its quite obvious that is just NOT the case.

So its the publisher that makes DF take its time? LOL

We all just hope for a beta......anytime......

Xris375: And you know this how ? You have access to magical crystal balls or tea leaves ? A sandbox doesn't need many features as WoW or other "railroad" games do, as long as it contain freedom.

they have yet to show about 90% of those published features in any kind of functioning form. The most they've shown at this point is a game in its most simplest form. And thats after maybe 4 solid years in development.   6-7 total from the very beginning.

Xris375: So what ? It's their game, they can do whatever they want with it including waiting to release it until it is actually finished. As long as you haven't invested any cash in it, you really have no right to whine.

Xris375: I'll be here in desember when the AoC  crowd will be whining about lack of "sandbox" features. It's going to be the LOTRO whine all over: "I haven't slept in one month but I leveled a 50. Now I have nothing to do...bohooo...AoC sux..." Then it will be repeated by the WAR crowd sometime in 2Q.

The masses don't care about slight differences in gameplay. They care about quality and how many other people are playing.

It's basically guranteed that both AoC and War will be 100x better in overall quality and have about 100x more players.

Xris375: Quality shines in gameplay. If you don't have cool gameplay, it will not matter how cool it look. About the number of players, I rateher play with 6-10 mature players that 1.100.001 idiots

Xris375: Again with the reading of tea leaves. With your abilities I would play the lotteries rather than MMO's. You are only guessing and have no idea how many ppl will playing this game.

Do you know why they can't get a publisher?,

Xris375: How do you know they will not get a publisher ?
