Hi there i was wondering if duoing is possible in this game. I played beta ages ago and liked the game but wasn t sure if it was for me. My wife and i play eq2 but want a casual second game to play. The cost of 2 MMO s isn t an issue time sometimes can be. So i m asking can we duo in this game casually with the odd group here and there, what classes would be best suited to do so and if this makes a difference what server would you suggest for finding groups when needed. Thanks in advance.

Anyone?
You can duo. Its difficult. You may have to multi-class. Maybe a Fighter/Rogue and a Wizard/Cleric. Just remember that the number of baddies remain constant regardless of difficulty level. You meet the same number of monsters in solo as you do on elite. The only difference is the amount of pain they bring. This often makes for poor gameplay as your time is spent gulping down potions and using heal wands to survive. 10 Hobgoblins are tough to beat on any level and they eventually wear you down...even on normal.
oh heck yeah, if u2 stay the same lvl you'll be fine, plus this game isn't your standard mmo.. it is very easy to get a group and get going, you'll have little trouble finding others to party with using the lfg feature..
enjoy it was fun when i played it
Cool thanks for the info. If anyone has anymore suggestions on classes to play as duo feel free to say cause i have no clue on a good duo at all other then the ones that a previous poster said. Thanks again
Hi Leucent,
DDO is good for casual gaming as it is easy to pick up a group any time. Also, I generally play with two friends who play a rogue and a ranger, while I play a cleric. That is not an ideal combo, no tank, but we do okay. I guess what I would recommend is a cleric/tank and a rogue/(sorc/mage which ever uses int.), and pick up a tank or spellcaster when u feel the need. If u play slowly and tactically and don't mind dying every now and then this is a fun casual game.
Pashbe1 may I ask what server you and your friends play on?

hmm I was thinking about how far you could duo in this game. If you keep it normal you may be able to get far. I know there are many guilds out there that have couples and love to take on noobies so you could look there too. adding to your party wont hurt and by finding a guild you can preview perspective partners.
As for classes I would suggest you take at least one healing class. Try cleric and or bard is decent as well. a rouge can help with the traps which some quests have none and others are full of them. fighters kill quick and take damage which is nice too. The possibilities are endless but once you decide to chase favor aka challenge normal, hard, elite you will have to play with more folks. happy fourth see ya in storm reach mabar server maybe? Argonessen is the most populated by the way too.
Thanks for the help all i think we ve decided cleric and rogue the only other question i guess is should we sub class either or go full on both. Thanks again and ya server no clue
Multiclassing is very difficult in this game. Not at the begining mind you but when you reach the upper levels it will show. The last thing you wanna do is invest alot of time on a character just to have to reroll it. I suggest staying true for your first characters or mains. Experiment early with the different classes find what works best. Looking into a server is highly advisable. Some are low populated and others are high. Some have family friendly guilds and others aim for roleplaying. Check the DDO forums and find which one has the best flavor for you.
My brother and I duo'd a lot when I used to play the game, and in fact there are guilds who have 2-manned the dragon raid (VoN 1-6). It's actually pretty easy to do when you both have complementary playing styles. There are 2 routes you can go here. Obviously, you'll need a tank type and a caster type. One of the two has the option of multiclassing as a rogue for the disable trap skill, but with the right buffs and spells, it's not absolutetly necessary to carry a rogue in many of the dungeons.
Here's a few options for duo's although I would recommend experimenting until you guys find a good fit for your combined playing styles.
Option # 1
Warforged Barbarian -- With a high intimidate and many beneficial immunities the barb can draw a lot of attention to himself while dealing out a TON of DPS.
paired with
Sorcerer -- The sorcerer can cast the repair skill and put all your stat points into Charisma and Dexterity. Max out your Use Magic Device skill and you should be able to cast most spells a cleric could anyways via wands and scrolls to heal yourself, while also being the primary buffer/healer for the WF.
Option # 2
Human Pally/Rogue -- The paladin with a potentially 50 standing AC and 25+ for all saves makes for an excellent tank. The levels of Rogue are for things like Evasion to increase AC, Search skill, Use Magic Device skill, and Disable Device skill.
Any Race Cleric/Bard -- The bard's songs stack nicely with the clerics buffs (except for Bless) and even if you only take one level of cleric, you can still use the divine scrolls and wands a cleric would normally be able to use at your current caster level (i.e. if you have a caster lvl 7, but only one level of cleric, you can still use lvl 7 cleric wands/scrolls)
Hope this was helpful. Ideally the various classes are supposed to be pure to enjoy the most benefits of the class, but for duo'ing I'd have to say multiclassing is the way to go to become more balanced over all.
