Thinking of trying SWG

I was thinking of trying the trial for starwars galaxies but was curious how you would rate the graphics. how do they compete with some of the newer titles like vanguard or LOTRO? How do they compete with WoW?

It doesnt look bad graphically at all.Id say its on a par with....well inbetween AO and eq 2 somewhere in there.I played the currebt version recently and found it entertaining.
Btw let me be the 1st to say :Here come the SOE haters its just a matter of time before they see this post and come bashing it.

A major secret: All the MMOs out there COMBINED do not have the features of SWG from travel, to customization, to player housing, to the fun and interesting combat, to exploration. Everything.

thought about pplaying it, but after months of research (and trust me when i say MONTHS) all ive come up with is SOE haters and SOE spoiling the game , vets quitting and SWG being a DAMN empty game
not saying dont go for it, your choice but a game that requires like 10,000 players online on each server has only about a 1000, or less ..... hmm...
Also dont waste time on an old title, go for something new - its just a matter of time before SWG completely dies.
NOTE: I AM NOT AN SOE HATER and this is just MY OWN OPINION so please i mean no disrespect

Your opinion does not holds much water since you have never played the game. you cant listen to players that where hurt by what SOE did . I was one of the players that where there when the NGE hit . But I have given the game another shot and it is getting better its worth the OP to check out the trial and judge for him self.
Thanks for the feedback. I plan on trying the game regardless of nay-sayers. I'm old enough to know my gaming likes and dislikes don't always go along with others opinions. For ex. 8.5 mill play WOW and it bores me to tears and everyone here thinks DDO will die tomorrow and I think it's one of the coolest games out.
SWG is a very good game, but its not anywhere close to being eye candy that you seem to be looking for. The shadows are really bad, as if theres no atmosphere (haze, cloud, distortion etc.) The models are very well done, but its something with the lighting, reflections and shadowing that is extremely poor. However, space combat is very nicely displayed
aside from that, the quests are pretty cool actually. theres a very nice story line within the quests/missions. I actually think that there is a higher level of achievement in the game then there is in WoW.. meaning there seems to be more instant gratification.. in a good way. In SWG going from quest to quest can sometimes require reading the complete dialogue, often times resorting to communicating to other players to find their locations. Which is its good side, and you are rewarded very often in a very short session of gaming. I guess my point is, it doest feel as grindy as some games like EQ2, Vanguard etc. Its nice for casual gamers.
above all, SWG is almost like playing 3 games. Theres a large story arch, with badge earnings and your basic quest rewards, theres the galactic civil war, theres also space advenuture/combat. Space combat is very twitch and very unlike anything you might find in any other MMO. All of it can tie in together. Oh..theres also PvP which is pretty snazzy and is for the most part consentual.
the new beast mastery is pretty incredible, but it takes a lot of dedication and for the less dedicated will require a guild to belong to for assistance on new specimens
id recommend it, but as far as the graphics department goes.. they really need to look into their lighting, reflections, shadowing. characters tend to look very waxy and shadows and reflections just..well are about as bad as it can get.

It's just another mindless level grind. Its one feature that sets it apart is that it has more bugs then any other MMO on the market, or in beta, for that matter. It has the unique honor of being the only game that has more lag and bugs three years in then it did at launch.
Take a hint from the empty servers. There's a reason no one's playing it.
But, hell, some shrill's gonna tell you that I'm just mad that SOE for constantly lying to their customers and screwing them over in a desperate attempt to make quick cash, so feel free to get the trial. It'll tell you everything you need to know.
